On this day in 1975, the Skyhooks LP “Living in the 70’s” was at #1 on the Australian charts (June 9)

Released in October 1974, this iconic Australian album was produced by former Daddy Cool lead singer Ross Wilson, and went on to become, at the time, the highest-selling album by an Australian act in Australia.

As well as the title track, this album contains Skyhooks fan favourites like "You Just Like Me 'Cos I'm Good in Bed", “Horror Movie”, “Smut”, “Balwyn Calling", and “Toorak Cowboy”.

In October 2010, it was listed at #9 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.

In 2011 the album featured at #75 on the Triple J Hottest 100 Albums of All Time.
In the same year, the album was added to the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's Sounds of Australia registry.

The title track written by bass player Greg Macainsh, went on to peak at #28 on the Australian singles chart, and was ranked #72 as part of Triple M's "Ozzest 100", the 'most Australian' songs of all time.

We are saddened to announce one of our longest serving Arts Centre Melbourne team members has recently passed away. Carolyn (Caz) Laffan was a wonderful friend and colleague to many of us over her more than 30-year career and she will be sorely missed.

For the past seven years, Caz has been an energetic driving force behind the Australian Music Vault, working closely with the music industry as a champion and advocate for Australian music. She was also instrumental in building the Australian Performing Arts Collection over three decades. She facilitated countless donations from companies and individuals across our five collecting areas – circus, dance, opera, music and theatre. Her knowledge of the Collection and performing arts history was incredibly vast and she shared this in many ways including through exhibitions, catalogue essays, online projects and media interviews.

Those of us fortunate enough to have worked alongside Caz have benefited enormously from her sharp intellect and expertise, her encouragement and warm leadership. She always gave her time generously and shared her knowledge to support the work of others. Caz always approached her work with passion and enthusiasm. She loved a chat, a laugh, a hearty debate, and how to tell a great story. She was of course, always happy to stand in the background, leaving the spotlight to others.

On behalf of the entire team at Arts Centre Melbourne, we want to send our love and condolences to Caz’s family and friends. Her legacy will remain strong here in the buildings she cherished for many years to come. ❤️
