We’re making it easier for you to get rid of your hard waste! 😄

Instead of two hard waste bookings and two tip passes, all households will now have five waste vouchers per year. Vouchers can be used in any combination to:

🪑 Drop off waste at a Resource Recovery Centre
🚚Book a hard waste collection
🌳Book a bundled branch collection (new service!)

We’re also expanding Hume Clean Days across Saturday and Sunday four times a year, giving you even more options to dispose of your waste!

The best bit is that these services are free to all Hume residents, including renters.

Waste vouchers will be available from 1 July. Check your letterbox this week for an information pack with all the details.

The HAKIMA Exhibition is now open 💛 The multimedia installation, by artist Aseel Tayah, explores the connections between the food we savour, the stories we tell, and the art that transcends time and borders.

HAKIMA opened on Friday at Town Hall Broadmeadows with a launch event and performance attended by many in the community. The evening featured local poets who shared stories of women's resilience during times of war and displacement. It was a night of music, food, and joyous community celebration, honouring the enduring wisdom of women in our lives 💕

This event was made possible through the generous support of the Hume Arts Grants program 🌟

Don’t miss your chance to visit the HAKIMA exhibition, open until Friday, 13 September.

Last month, we visited the Hume Indoor Cricket Centre in Greenvale to see how things were progressing! 🏏

The indoor cricket hub forms part of the broader Greenvale Recreation Reserve upgrade, and will include 6-lane synthetic turf cricket pitches, changing spaces and meeting rooms.

The hub will also include a pavilion to serve the proposed sports oval four, which will include home and away change rooms, umpire rooms, medical rooms and a canteen 🍔

We also visited the Craigieburn Sports Stadium which is currently in Stage 1 of construction. As part of this initial construction stage, we're:
◼️ building three additional multipurpose courts to the north of courts 4 and 5
◼️ building new meeting rooms, offices spaces, changing facilities, and amenities to cater for the extra demand
◼️ building a new entry to the east, which includes a new reception and café area
◼️ upgrading internal areas including seating within the facility.

Installation of the timber flooring in the main stadium is now complete, with the project due for completion in the coming months.

Thank you to the Victorian Government for investing in these important projects through the Growing Suburbs Fund 🤝

🌳 document our commitment to the maintenance and enhancement of street and reserve trees.

Eid Mubarak to our communities celebrating Eid al-Adha 🌙✨

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar, as it marks two significant holidays 🌟

Known as the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha commemorates the Quranic tale of Prophet Ibrahim's devotion to sacrifice.

It also marks the end of the annual holy pilgrimage of Hajj in Saudi Arabia where thousands travel to Islam's holiest site in Mecca.

Eid al-Adha is traditionally observed over four days and is often celebrated by family and friends gathering together to visit mosques, pray, exchange gifts and share meals.

From Monday 17 June, we’ll begin upgrading Ligar Street in Sunbury 🚧

As part of the upgrades, we’ll:
◼️ undertake road pavement works and install traffic treatments
◼️ reconstruct kerb and channel
◼️ build indented parking for medical facilities
◼️ install a road stormwater drainage system
◼️ upgrade the existing Ligar Street parking bays for people with a disability, at the front of the Sunbury Aquatic Centre.

From mid-June, there’ll be changed traffic conditions along Ligar Street, including reduced speeds and lane closures in place so that we can complete these works safely.

Please refer to traffic controllers and detour signs on site while these works take place 👷

These upgrade works will be completed by late 2024, with the progress dependent on weather conditions. We encourage you to plan your journey and allow additional travel time.
