🦀 Porcelain Crabs – Masters of Camouflage! 🦀

Don't let their delicate name fool you - Porcelain Crabs are tough survivors of the reef! These tiny crustaceans aren’t true crabs but close relatives of squat lobsters. With their flat bodies and wide claws, they easily slip between crevices and anemones for protection.

🔹 Filter feeders – they use feathery appendages to sweep plankton from the water.
🔹 Masters of defense – if threatened, they can drop a limb to escape, which later regenerates!
🔹 Symbiotic relationship – often found living in anemones, just like clownfish, benefiting from shelter while causing no harm.

📍 Where to spot them? These elusive crabs can be found in coral reefs worldwide, but they’re a treat to see up close on a dive!

🌊 Dive into the World of Dugongs 🌊

"In the 57 years that I have been doing Dive Travel one reef starts looking like another and wrecks start to morph into just another pile of rust. Some might say I’m jaded, spoilt or simply hard to please. Imagine my surprise when I took a group to Tubbataha Reef, knowing it was one of those rarer dive places encouraged me to go when I had the opportunity, because there are limited spots available. The visibility was excellent, the fish life amazing, Tiger Sharks magically appeared without warning, turtles, giant wrasse and dolphins on nearly every dive but the crowning glory was a juvenile Whale Shark which stayed to play. The little guy (10m) swam around with us for nearly two hours, everywhere we went it followed, including back to the boat ladder! How many photos of one subject can you take? Comments like awe inspiring, amazing, best dives I’ve ever done, were heard on exiting the water. Tubbataha gets my thumbs up, excellent diving, bucket list - tick.
