Women and gender diverse people should feel safe, welcome and valued in all public places across New South Wales.

YourGround NSW is being led by Monash University's XYX Lab in collaboration with CrowdSpot and developed in partnership with Hannah Tonkin, NSW Women's Safety Commissioner, the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and Transport for NSW as part of the Safer Cities program.

Local Area Mobility Plans aim to provide travel choices for people within their communities by developing key connected, safe and convenient walking and cycling routes to and from frequent destinations. These destinations include schools, shopping precincts, major parks and recreation areas, and frequent bus stops. The provision of a connected active transport network will provide opportunities for the community to use other transport modes that not only assist in choosing how to travel, but also play a key role in improved health and wellbeing. Stronger active travel networks will mean that people have a variety of ways to move about, so that leaving the car at home becomes an option for some trips.

The key objectives of Local Area Mobility Plans are to improve health, liveability and wellbeing outcomes for city living via mobility investment and to improve road safety for all transport users.

Our first stage of engagement has now concluded for the City of Hobart’s Local Area Mobility Plan!

Great neighbourhoods are key to liveable cities and on behalf of the City of Hobart we have developed a pilot project to inform how it can be made easier to move in and around your neighbourhood.

Enjoying options of walking or riding around neighborhoods is becoming more and more important for our community and plays a big role in how our neighborhood communities are shaped.

The pilot project initially looked at the Battery Point, Lenah Valley, New Town and Mount Stuart areas.

This information will be used to develop local area mobility plans that will guide future upgrades in these areas.
