Spent some time in Christchurch & Akaroa before taking the TranzAlpine across to the West Coast. Today we are in Franz Josef Glacier and the weather is on our side as we got to see the glacier on our nature walk.

Tomorrow due to road closures we're having to take a massive detour to Queenstown but it's just part of the adventure on our Rail & Coach Exploration of New Zealand!

On 20 September 2024, Australian cartoonist Warren Brown and journalist Matthew Benns left London in a 1925 vintage car, aiming to drive to Melbourne by Christmas. They are re-enacting the 1927 journey of Australian adventurer Francis Birtles – the first person to drive from England to Australia.

Traveling with APT through the Rockies was a truly amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience! Staying at the stunning Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the historic Fairmont Banff Springs added an extra layer of luxury and charm to the trip. APT went above and beyond to ensure that every moment was unforgettable.

The Gold Leaf service on the Rocky Mountaineer was nothing short of spectacular. The delectable food paired with awe-inspiring views made the journey even more memorable. A highlight was spotting a lone Grizzly Bear in the wild, which felt like a magical moment in nature.

From Calgary to Victoria, I couldn’t fault this trip. The stunning landscapes, exceptional accommodations, and attentive service made for an extraordinary adventure. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Canadian Rockies!

We have a couple of days exploring Fremantle and on Tuesday we head south to Albany, Pemberton and Margaret River.
