Job Description - Senior Façade Estimator
Commercial Windows and Glass
Key Requirements
• 5-10 years experience in the commercial building industry.
• Ability to read drawings and perform accurate material takeoffs.
• Ability to accurately assess risk – material, labor and o/head.
• A thorough understanding of the tendering process.
• Advanced computer literacy in Excel, Word, Auto Cad and Logikal/V6.
• Ability to communicate and negotiate with clients.
• Operate under time constraints, ie. tender deadlines etc.
• Administrative skills, excellent document control.

Estimating - General
• Liaise with architects, engineers, builders, contractors, suppliers and project owners.
• Assisting Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors in planning and organization.
• Interpreting plans, specifications, regulations and codes of practice.
• Preparing preliminary sketches, working drawings and specifications.
• Prepare a 'Bill of Quantities' or cost estimate which lists the individual components required
to construct the project
• Evaluate the project and cost estimate for compliance with specifications, regulations and
standards
• Calculating costs and estimating time scales.
Estimating – New Jobs
• Ensure that you do a handover meeting with planning department for new jobs.
• Ensure that budgets and job files are setup prior to handover meetings – jobs need to be
setup in Timberline, PRS.
• On acceptance of estimate prepare a detailed scope of works including highlighting special
purchases and any special requirements or verbal agreements.
• Prepare a cost estimate breakdown for budgeting purposes.
• Highlight any savings you may consider achievable or areas of concern.
• Working knowledge of V6 or Logikal software estimating system.
• Develop an understanding of the risk areas in a project and price accordingly.

Manila – Home Based – Senior Façade Drafting
Job scope per below:
• Ensure that you review a project upon handover.
• Review and Produce Shop Drawings, concept to IFA (issued for approval) to IFC (issued for
construction) to As .
• Review and Produce Set-Outs or Fabrication sheets.
• Scheduling, BOM, material optimization, Stock Control, etc
• Façade Design meetings (requires coordination with Clients, Builders, Factory Manager,
Foreman, Engineering, MD).
• Liaise with external supplier/s on design and interaction/installation to openings.
• Liaise with PM/Site on installation including problems and solutions.
• Procurement management - Material take off (Aluminum, Glass, Consumables)
• Identify and inform Variations to Estimator.
• Coordinate Scheduling and program requirements.
• Document Control – manage and update daily.
• Extrusion system stock control.
• Using PRS to manage and co-ordinate TASKS, Procurement, Setouts, Daily Reports.
• Continuous learning required on extrusions systems and new developments in Australian
Standards.
Project Documentation Review Requirements
When a new project is won a project handover will be done by the estimating department to inform
stakeholders of the basic project requirements.
A review of the following documentation needs to be completed by Team Leaders in the Planning
department:
1. Planning staff to review and comprehend the new job requirements and can discuss/debate
requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
2. To identify job requirements for the Project and allow a more comprehensive understanding of
the job as a whole.
3. To identify and raise any areas that may have been missed, including variations.
4. To understand the higher risk parts of the job and to enable meaningful discussions on risk
management.
5. To understand the fine detail as well as the broader scope and the Architectural intent of the job.

Documents that need to be reviewed by Planning and Project Staff:
1. Project Summary and handover as prepared by Estimating Department.
2. Architectural drawings; floor plans, window and door schedules and details.
