Mini Tours Blue, White & Emerald Tour With Hotel Conca D’oro

These tours are ideal for travellers who have limited time in a destination but still want to experience key highlights or for those who prefer to explore a specific aspect of a place, such as its culinary scene, historical landmarks, or natural beauty. Minitours offer a convenient way to enjoy a travel experience without the commitment of a longer itinerary. They are also popular as add-ons to longer trips, allowing travellers to customize their experience with specific interests in mind.

Please note this is not small group touring, it is a mix of independent travel and larger group travel with plenty of free time to do your own thing.

*** Please be aware that during the Jubilee Year, certain areas of the Vatican Museums may be inaccessible due to religious ceremonies. Additionally, entrance to St. Peter’s Basilica may also experience unannounced closures. These circumstances are beyond our control. Thank you for your understanding.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Rome · Pompeii · Sorrento

See Southern Italy highlights on your minitour from Rome. Your journey begins heading south along the so called Sun Highway, crossing the fertile Roman countryside and the area known as Castelli Romani, dotted with enchanting medieval villages .Once you reach the town of Pompeii, you will have lunch with the real Neapolitan pizza!

After lunch, you will enter into one of the most important archaeological sites in the world: a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins of Pompeii, with Skip the Line entrance and a guided tour. Visit the haunting ruins of Pompeii, traveling back in time to the tragic days in 79 AD when the silent Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupted, covering the prosperous Roman city in deadly volcanic ashes and poisonous gases, leaving this prosperous city crystallized until our days.

You’ll learn how people lived at that time, visiting houses and “bars” of the time, admiring frescoes and mosaics to imagine how rich and prosperous was the city before the dreadful day.

After the visit, you will drive along the Sorrentine Coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner (dress code: jacket for men) and an overnight in your new hotel.

DAY 2: Sorrento

Breakfast and dinner at the hotel and day at your disposal. Spend the day exploring Sorrento on your own or taking an optional excursion in the surroundings.

DAY 3: Sorrento · Capri

After breakfast you’ll be embarked to Capri island. Depending on weather conditions, you’ll take a boat ride to the popular and dreamy “Grotta Azzurra” (Blue Grotto), where sunlight passes into an underwater cavity and shines through the seawater, creating a magical blue reflection. You’ll see wonderful views of the bay of Naples, free time for lunch (not included).

After lunch you can take advantage of some free time to explore Capri at your leisure or to go shopping and, in the afternoon, you will check in at your new hotel for a well-deserved rest.

DAY 4: Capri

You will have plenty of time after your hotel breakfast to explore the beauty of Capri, sometimes called the “Garden of Eden,” at your own pace. Discover the many shops and restaurants of this wonderful, sunny island or take a swim in the Gulf of Naples. If you’d rather take a day trip, you may book a separate excursion to nearby Anacapri, situated on the slopes of Monte Solario; the port city of Marina Grande; I Faraglioni, three impressive rock structures that have survived many kinds of erosion but yet still protrude grandly out of the sea; or the famous Villa Jovis, a residence built for the emperor Tiberius in the first century b. C. Return to your hotel for one last evening in Capri.

DAY 5: Capri · Sorrento · Positano

After breakfast, depart to Sorrento by ferry, once on the mainland, you will board on a coach for Positano, driving along the Amalfi Coast on the most famous road in the Campania region. In Positano, check in at your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

DAY 6: Positano

See all that Positano has to offer as you set off to explore the ancient fishermen’s village after breakfast. Known for its cubic Empire houses perched upon cliffs looking over turquoise water, Positano is the most well-known summer resort area on the whole peninsula. Walk to the heart of town on Via Pasitea and weave your way through the city’s narrow streets, terraces, and gardens overlooking the bay. Be sure to buy one of the straw handbags or handmade sandals for which Positano is famous. Return to your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 7: Positano · Naples

Start your day with breakfast at your hotel, and at the designated time, depart for Naples, the third largest city in Italy. Situated along a lovely bay, Naples is known for its islands, the neighbourhood of Posillipo, and Mount Vesuvius. Check in to your new hotel for an overnight.

DAY 8: Naples

After breakfast, pick up at your hotel at 8:15 a.m. approximately. Enjoy a 2 hours panoramic tour led by a professional guide, discovering the most important monuments of the lively city of Naples. First two stops will be at the Cathedral to visit its Treasure Chapel and at St. Restituta Basilica. Drive to the town Hall square where the New Castle was built by the French family of the Anjou and continue your tour to Posillipo. Stop at St. Antonio church terrace to get the best view of the city and the bay.

The tour continues to Plebiscite square where you will admire the Royal Palace (outside), the beautiful church of St. Francesco di Paola in its neoclassic style, the famous Umberto I Gallery and finally the San Carlo theatre. The tour will end in the city center.

Rest of the day at your leisure to continue to visit and discover on your own, the beauties of this city before to spend your last night relaxing at your hotel in Naples.

ITINERARY
Day 1 BARI Arrival in Bari. Check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 2 BARI After breakfast, meet your tour guide at the hotel and off you go on a tour to discover the beauties of Bari. You’ll reach its historical center, known as “Bari Vecchia”, and learn interesting information about Bari’s past as well as the history of its main monuments. Walk down little alleys and find yourself in tiny little squares inside the walls, until you reach the Pontifical Basilica of Saint Nicholas (that contains the relics of Saint Nicholas), the Castello Svevo (or Swabian Castle, built in the XII century by Norman King Roger II and later restored by Frederick II of the Holy Roman Empire), Piazza Mercantile, Piazza Ferrarese, Piazza del Sedile and finally the Basilica di San Sabino. Leisure time in the afternoon. Overnight stay in Bari.

Day 3 BARI · TRANI · ANDRIA (MASSERIA) · CASTEL DEL MONTE · BARI After breakfast at your hotel, we suggest a visit to Trani, a very important medieval center of the so-called Imperial Apulia. The Jewish ghetto (or Guidecca) and the splendid Romanesque cathedral by the sea are not to be missed. After your free time, we will take you to Andria for lunch and wine tasting in a typical masseria (or large farm). On our way back to Bari, we’ll make a stop at the Castel del Monte, the most amazing castle built by Frederick II. It is protected as a World Heritage Site. Its geometric design is unique: it is an octagonal prism with an octagonal tower at each corner. Many mysteries are still unresolved, including the real purpose of the castle. Return to Bari. Overnight.

Day 4 BARI · ALBEROBELLO · MATERA· BARI After breakfast, Alberobello is on the list, the “città dei Trulli”, also protected as a World Heritage Site. Trulli are dry stone huts with a conical roof originally built for storage purposes. They were also permanent dwellings and are called casedde by locals (or little houses). Alberobello is a gem, a true fairy tale place in the heart of Puglia. We will continue to Basilicata, a border region. Welcome to Matera, its capital, “la città dei sassi” (literally the city of the stones), Italy’s own version of Cappadocia in the south of Italy. European Capital of Culture 2019, Matera is a UNESCO Heritage site. Take your time to admire the sassi from different perspectives and overlooks. These cave dwellings inhabited since the Paleolithic period make for the monumental historical center and are connected by a maze of quaint little alleys, which will make you feel like you are catapulted in a real-life nativity scene. We’ll visit the historical center and enjoy the views from different overlooks. Return to Bari. Overnight there.

Day 5 BARI · POLIGNANO A MARE · OSTUNI · LECCE After breakfast, we’ll set off to one of the most prominent coastal places of Puglia: Polignano a Mare, hometown to Domenico Modugno, Italian singer-songwriter who cowrote the world-known song Volare (nel blu, dipinto di blu). Polignano was built on the peak of a cliff, and therefore its coastline is characterized by coves, small bays and inlets. Our next stop will be Ostuni, the “città bianca” (or white city), another true gem 74 kilometers (46 miles) south of Bari located on the summit of a hill. It was built by the Normans and has city walls with four gates (remains of them can be seen). The region is a producer of top quality olive oil and wine. We will have time to go around the historical center, eat typical delicacies, shop for food or souvenirs or simply get lost in the old medieval streets. Transfer to Lecce. Overnight in Lecce.

Day 6 LECCE After breakfast, meet your tour guide at the hotel and off you go on a 3-hour walking tour to discover the beauties of Lecce. For its artistic and cultural buzz, Lecce is known as “southern Florence”. Its underlying trait is though the baroque style of its buildings. A number of religious and secular monuments will be yours to take in: Maria Santissima Assunta and the Basilica Santa Croce, Palazzo dei Celestini, Piazza Sant’ Oronzo and its Roman amphitheater, as well as the Church of Santa Chiara. You will have free time in the afternoon. Overnight stay is in Lecce.

Day 7 LECCE · OTRANTO · SANTA CESAREA TERME · SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA · LECCE Breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, meet your driver and head for Otranto. just a 30 minute drive from Lecce. Along many centuries, Otranto was dominated by the Greeks, the Romans and the Turks, and traces of this melting pot of cultures can still be gazed in awe. After lunch (not included) a stop is worth in Santa Cesarea Terme and Castro Marina. Afterwards, take your time in Santa Maria di Leuca, a summertime preferred destination famous for its liberty-style residences as well as the iconic lighthouse. Next to the lighthouse is the Sanctuary de Finibus Terrae (1720-1755), built to commemorate the passage of St. Peter during his travel to Italy. Return to Lecce and overnight stay.

Day 8 LECCE · GALATINA · MASSERIA L’ULIVETO · GALLIPOLI · LECCE After breakfast, you will see Galatina - a fascinating and pagan inland little town. The Basilica di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria houses amazing paintings and mosaics. The Baroque church of San Pietro and the small church of San Paolo are on the list of places to see. You will get a clear understanding of the tarantismo as well as the pizzica and taranta folkore dances. Lunch is at L’Uliveto, a beautiful masseria (or large farm). Gallipoli is next, a city of Greek origin. Its urban nucleus, surrounded by medieval walls, is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Gallipoli draws a lot of people during the summer and especially young people for its vibrant nightlife. Return to Lecce. Overnight stay.

Day 9 LECCE Breakfast. Transfer to Brindisi airport or port. End of our services.
