Deciding to seek out a counsellor can be a daunting process. It’s hard to know where to start and to even know what you are looking for. Once you make the initial appointment, you may feel overwhelmed. How do you open up and trust a stranger with your emotional well-being or that of a family member or loved one? I understand this first-hand from my own personal counselling experiences for myself a
nd my children. I also know that the counsellor you choose has to be the right fit for you otherwise you won’t feel comfortable enough to start talking through the issues that have brought you there in the first place. Listen Lass provides counselling for individuals, children and families, including partners and families of the Australian Defence Force. I am committed to providing you a safe, non-judgmental and reassuring environment where you can focus on, explore and clarify whatever issues and emotions you are dealing with that have stopped you from being able to achieve a more well-balanced, happier life. I will assist you in learning how to develop strategies and coping mechanisms to use in your everyday life, which will increase self-awareness and help build resilience. I have a “real life” perspective from my own individual and family-life struggles over the years, and although I am not there to give you answers, I will be with you every step of the way during your counselling journey. I am there to listen, to be the calm in the midst of any chaos and uncertainty you may be feeling. You have control over every part of this experience because this is your story, your voice.
