🎣 February Fishing Report – East Gippsland 🌊

Fishing in East Gippsland this February is shaping up to be a great month, with plenty of opportunities to reel in some big catches. Here’s what’s biting in our waters:

🌅 Inshore & Estuaries:

Flathead are still active around the deeper holes, especially in the Snowy River and lakes. Perfect for a slow drift with soft plastics or bait.
Bream are hitting well, particularly around structures like rocks, pontoons, and bridge pylons.
Whiting have been consistent in the sandy flats, with best results on pipis or fresh worms.
🌊 Offshore:

Snapper action continues, particularly around reefs and drop-offs, with some big ones still in the mix.
Gummy Sharks are also a good option, showing up in the deeper waters of Bass Strait and near the offshore reefs.
🐟 Tip: As the weather warms up, fish tend to head for the deeper, cooler pockets—keep an eye on the tides for the best bite windows!

🌟 Almost 6 Months In – What a Ride! 🌟

As we near six months into this incredible new chapter of our lives, we’re reflecting on our first Christmas period—and we made it! 🎄✨ It wasn’t as daunting as we expected, and that’s thanks to the amazing people around us.

A huge thank you to our wonderful cleaners Lauren, Marg, Jess, and Alison—we truly couldn’t have gotten through Christmas without you. 🧹🫶 The work you do is incredible, and we appreciate you so much! So many guests comment on how clean the villas are, and that’s all because of you. Your hard work never goes unnoticed! 👏✨

To my dad, thank you for stepping in to help when things got busy—we couldn’t have done it without you. 💪 And to Mum, thank you for giving Cody a change of scenery when he needed it. 🏡💖 Your support means everything to us.

To our son Cody, we are beyond proud of you! 👏 You’ve embraced a new school, made new friends, and faced this adventure with us head-on. 🎒👫 Your patience and resilience inspires us every day.

To our wonderful friends and family, thank you for taking the time to visit us. 🏖️ It’s not always easy for us to come to you, so having you here means the world—and you get a holiday out of it too! 😆✈️ A special thanks to those who have welcomed Cody into your family outings while we work. Did you know that there will soon be a Wine Bar in Metung? 🍷 YAY 🍷 Soon we'll be sipping fine wines in a gorgeous intimate environment!

The official name is still to be decided, so for now, we are calling it the Metung Wine Bar! It will be located where the pop-up Maffco Brewery and Taphouse bar is currently operating, directly opposite the Metung Village Green, in between the Metung Bakery and the Metung Laundry.

You can look forward to enjoying divine wines, delicious gin & liquors, and yes there will also be beer available! And some tasty tapas style eats! A rooftop bar will allow you to enjoy the sunshine with views to the lake!

Construction will begin after peak season with estimated completion and opening by next Summer.
