Gill Campbell's mission statement: Number one commitment must be to soil health, through pasture management. With soil health comes water infiltration, coupled with retention ability, hence the flow on effect to the health and quality of the flora that grows off that soil, hence the health and quality of beings that live directly or indirectly off that flora. Hence, all the different facets of life are connected, direct or indirect, to soil health. In particular, holistic environment health, which denotes long term sustainability (i.e. not decades, but centuries at least). There is ample information on past societies that were so successful that their populations got into the thoudands for a couple of thousand years and then died out. Through degradation of the environment, they lost their ability to grow their own food and lost materials for building. In some cases two thousand years on, these areas are still waste lands. European style management has only been used in Australia for 150 to 200 years maximum and anyone who thinks our landscape and soils are just as healthy as ever have their head in the sand. In so many areas, huge amounts of money and effort are being poured into just patching up symptoms and not fixing the problem (which is degradation of the environment).
