🌊 On this day in 1932, a crowd converged in Lorne to celebrate the opening of the newly completed Great Ocean Road.

Over a 13-year construction period, 3000 returned servicemen built the road, largely by pick, shovel and barrow.

Now a popular road trip for Victorian locals and visitors alike, the 'greatness' of the Great Ocean Road has never diminished.

Very early sighting. Whales are generally seen from May to September. Mmmmm.

Two killer whales were spotted at Shelley Beach Warrnambool, travelling east about 12.30pm on Thursday 24th January 2019, according to the Warrnambool Surf Lifesaving Club.

The whales have not entered the bay and pose no danger to swimmers or surfers.

Could this be a head start to the Warrnambool Whale season which traditionally begins in May-June?

This is call out to keep your eyes pealed for whales frolicking in the deep as you enjoy your summer beach days in Warrnambool - please log your whale sightings with us.
