What a magnificent view of the saddle and Mt Ironstone from Mother Cummings Peak!

Legend has it that Martha Cummings was a school teacher in Meander in the 1890s and was dared by her students to climb the prominent peak nearby. So, she did, and Mother Cummings Peak bears her name as a result. We'd love to hear any other stories of how the mountain might have got its name....

This grade 3 track takes walkers from Westrope Rd up the northern face of Mother Cummings to the saddle (3 hrs return) or the peak (4 hrs return).

We have a new handout on this track and will be adding it to our website soon, but in the meantime you can grab a copy from the centre, open 9-5, 7 days.
