Who remembers taking a bath in the sink? Our farmhouse sink is certainly big enough for it.

Did you know Morpeth is the second oldest river port in Australia? Lying on the banks of the Hunter River, steam ships (like the ones pictured) would travel from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 to Sydney then ply the river between Morpeth, Newcastle and the capital bringing much needed supplies and passengers.

Morpeth played an important role in the growth of the fledgling colony. The river was kind of like a highway and steamer lines vied to provide the fastest boats and finest accommodation.

You can read about the once bustling port in the link in stories 👆 or come visit the Morpeth Museum and learn more about when the town was filled with sailors, bullockies and hotels; bond stores and salesmen; free settlers and convict workers; dairy farmers and railway men.
