As 2021 comes to an end it is also time for Erin Ross Personal TravelManager to come to an end To say the last couple of years have been tricky is a bit of an understatement but as I process some of my clients last refunds and credits from the COVID cancellations I will be winding down my travel business and moving on to new exciting adventures.

I am sure you can imagine, with travel being my main career since leaving school, this has been one of the toughest decisions that I have ever had to make. I love travel so much, I love planning travel so much, but the emotional and financial toll of the 'rona coaster' has made me reassess my priorities and appreciate this less crazy / busy life, with not being on call 24/7, and going away on holiday without my laptop.

I have been very very fortunate to have wonderful and understanding clients throughout this last couple of years who knew that, at all times, I was doing my absolute best to get as much of their hard earned money back as I could.

For those who still have credits in place, do not fear, I will be passing all of your details along to a lovely colleague and will be working with her for as long as it takes until all credits have been used or refunded.

I am so so grateful to each and every client who entrusted me with helping them to plan their travel dreams. I loved planing with you, I loved following you on your adventures and I loved hearing all of the fun stories when you returned. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

We’ve found a little piece of paradise here in Stanthorpe for Mummas Time Out 2021. I’m so so thankful that this weekend actually got to go ahead.... was holding my breath all week!! But here I am with 9 other beautiful Mummas, having some time out, a few vinos and a lot of giggles.

This is so true. I’ve been very lucky to have travelled back to some places, with my kids, that I had already been to. It was a totally different experience, that allowed me to see new things through their eyes .... and made the destination even more amazing 💕

This time last year I was a disembarking the last flight I have been on. Certainly didn’t know, or could even imagine, what was to follow but what a year it’s been!!

I’m still processing refunds, as policies change. Extending or sorting credits, when the rules change and now FINALLY starting to book some local adventures.

I want to thank again every one of my amazing clients for your patience and understanding in all of this. For those that still have credits .... I’m still keeping up with these as the rules change, and working to get your money back if I am able.

I also want to thank our TravelManagers Australia NPO for continuing their amazing support for me and my legend colleagues.

I’m keeping everything crossed that the government offer our struggling industry support for just a bit longer, while the international borders are closed, so that I can continue to do this ‘job’ that I love so much 💕 ✈️ 🌎

Not to confused with the tourism industry, here it is ... the current reality for my beloved Travel Industry.

We are travel consultants, wholesalers and tour companies who deal mainly with international travel or international travellers. Dont' get me wrong, I absolutely agree that the international borders should be closed right now, that's the right thing to do, but it's killing our industry.

I'm told there is around 40,000 in our industry and about 90% will be gone if we don't get any further support after JK finishes. Many of those will be my amazing colleagues who, like me, have worked so hard to build their travel business. To watch it all go down the drain in the last year has been absolutely heartbreaking.

I know that people have options of how and where they book their travel but there are still MANY people who like the extra security of booking with their favourite travel consultant.

I don't want to leave this industry that I love so much but if there is no government support past 1 April then I will have no choice. SO, who will look after the credits that I'm still looking after, the refunds we are still waiting for? Who will take care of my beautiful clients when we are all able to travel again? If you can spare a quick minute to sign this petition and / or share it with your friends .... I'd be super grateful.

Although there wasn’t a lot of positive in the travel industry in 2020, there are still a lot of things I’m grateful for and will continue to focus on in 2021...
💕 Balance .... covid freed up some time for me work wise, so I got back into crafting and reading and want to continue to allow myself time to do these things that I love that I had let go in the ‘busy-ness’ of work and life.

💕 Making memories and having adventures a bit closer to home and even at home. Making The Rona Wheel to give us a break from homeschooling was a lot of fun!! The Rona Wheel is here to stay and we look forward to sharing those adventures with you.

💕 More movie time with the kids. I wish I’d listed all the movies we watched in 2020. We’re only up to C in our A to Z of all time Disney movies so we look forward to knocking a few more of those off this year.

💕 Watching the kids get creative at home but still kicking goals at school as well. They are resilient little buggers and take most things in their stride.

My wish for 2021 is that we can get to NZ@and spend some time with the rest of the family. I don’t feel there will be any big trips on the cards any time soon but I can’t wait until the NZ bubble opens fully 🙏🙏

BORDERS: this is the current info but if you are planning on travelling please check the state government pages for the current info, as the rules can change in a second.

- WA has reinstated its hard border closure to anyone from NSW from midnight tonight until further notice. There are some exemptions, but they are reportedly going to be very difficult to get approved.

- QLD: Entry for NSW residents is only via online border declaration again and anyone from the Northern Beaches/hotspots must self-quarantine for 14-days. Border passes could take 3 days to get approved (though it’s usually within a few hours or less) so plan ahead.

- The Boxing Day Sydney - Hobart yacht race has been cancelled.

- TAS: Anyone from Greater Sydney entering Tasmania must now self-quarantine for 14 days.

- VIC: Residents from the Northern Beaches and hotspots must enter hotel quarantine for 14-days. Currently there are no restrictions for the rest of NSW residents to enter though Victorians have been advised not to travel to NSW as the border could close meaning they would have to quarantine on their return.

- NT: Anyone arriving from the Northern Beaches must enter government quarantine for 14-days at their own expense ($2500), including NT residents.

- ACT: Anyone from the Northern Beaches must self-isolate for 14-days.

- SA is the same as above but Northern Beaches residents must enter hotel quarantine.

- IF cases have increased today, It’s likely Greater Sydney will go into lockdown tomorrow night as per the current Northern Beaches restrictions until next Wednesday 23rd. Which would mean an extension to include Greater Sydney in all of the above border restrictions.

There will be an announcement on this tomorrow morning from NSW Government.

If I’ve missed anything, let me know as it’s changing rapidly and already confusing.

I miss airports ... and flying .... and all that travel entails... well maybe except the unpacking and washing when we get home, I don’t really miss that 😂 can’t wait until I can board a big bird again but wishing my an awesome weekend with her Aunty and cousin 💕

I love this quote so much. After many adventures with family, friends and colleagues..... it can be pretty accurate in some instances Although I do love a good destination, a holiday or adventure can be ‘make or break’ dependant on the people you get to share it with. Even the most unexciting destination can be awesome with the right people. Has there been been somewhere you have been to that was totally not what you expected but you still had the best time anyway? We recently had a few days away on the GC and thought we would treat ourselves to an oceanview apartment ... when we got there, we were on level 2 with big trees blocking our ocean views, sure we were a bit disappointed but we still had a great time away because it was me, the kids and the beach right over the road
