Save this for the school holidays! This beautiful trail at John Forrest National Park is perfect for a family wander. Featuring little footbridges, gullies, huge granite outcrops and a shelter built in the 1930s, there are surprises throughout. Keep your eyes peeled - you may even spot a ‘roo or two! 🦘

This week let’s explore the southern section of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, by foot, or bike. Points of interest along the way include the Stuart Street Artworks (a series of metal sculptures by Stuart Green), a quick side trip to Boya/Mountain Quarry and the old Darlington Station Platform.

Found amongst the autumn colours of Fred Jacoby Park, the Portagabra Track explores the scenery and serenity of beautiful Beelu National Park.

Begin this trail by walking along the wooden walkway and under the famous pipeline. The trail (near Mundaring Weir) is popular with bird watchers, hikers, and joggers. The Jarrah woodlands are shady enough to visit at any time of year. Be sure to reward yourself afterwards with a drink and a bite to eat at the Mundaring Weir Hotel. Here’s our quick guide 👉

🚂 🐶 MUNDARING - GLEN FORREST | Railway Reserves Heritage Trail
Tread the iconic Railway Reserves Heritage Trail with your family or furry friends this week! The weekly Mundaring Garden and Farmers Market is also found on this section of the super-easy walking and cycling track. The market is held each and every Saturday morning, where the Mundaring Train Station used to stand.

From here, head west along the trail where you’ll see native birds and signs that a railway used to chug through the trees. Reward yourself with a drink and bite to eat at Glen Forrest Gourmet afterwards. Here’s our quick guide 👉

Hit this 7.9km trail at WA’s oldest national park. Start at the Rangers Office, near the main car park. Walk through woodlands to arrive at spectacular city views from the escarpment. You’ll also walk down into a quiet valley, where the trail follows a seasonal brook. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!

🌳 Trails Tuesday IS BACK!!
🚶BEELU NATIONAL PARK | Golden View Lookout Trail
First up for this hiking season is a favourite leafy loop trail. Golden View Lookout Trail takes in parts of the Bibbulmun trail. Start at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre.

Since we’ve not had much rainfall, be wary of lose, dry gravel. Hit the track in late winter and you’ll find the peaceful trail through beautiful Beelu National Park is bursting with wildflowers. At the end, you’ll be rewarded for climbing a hill with a sweeping view of Lake CY O’Connor and the weir wall from the Golden View Lookout. Get the Trails WA map and more info here 👉
