It's all things BIG DATA for us this week, as we pre-launch our new Algorithms for All game that delivers concepts and skills in data science - and you don't even need a computer! Just 68 sleeps until Quantal Bioscience's inaugural Zoo of Poo School Citizen Science Conference in National Science Week, hosted by CathWest Innovation College and online, where we will bring together students, teachers, zookeepers and researchers to share information and learn from each other about how important gut microbes are in keeping our zoo animal friends healthy and happy.

Quantal is excited to be getting out of the city this school holidays, to join our friends at the Renewable Manilla festival in Manilla, a beautiful small town out past Tamworth. We'll be bringing Manilla a special edition of our Microbes Power On workshop, where we'll be attempting to find out who has the finest mud in Manilla for generating electricity from microbes.

Renewable Manilla is a 2-day event, 19th - 20th April, that aims to create stronger communities, educate around environmental sustainability, provide spaces to be creative, and have fun.

Closing the circle. Marian College students share their scientific findings with Sydney Zoo keepers. Generating new scientific knowledge to improve animal conservation outcomes, students in the Zoo of Poo project collected poo samples and analysed them using state-of-the-art DNA sequencing to generate full microbial profiles of the gut microbiomes. The final presentation at Sydney Zoo for 2023 accessed samples across the year to highlight correlations and patterns and promoted collaboration within the Zoo of Poo network. https://www.quantalbioscience.com/Education_ZoP
