🎨 Funding available for public art projects & placemaking activities 🖌
Do you have some community art ideas to enrich the cultural identity of our local area?
The Council's Community Art Fund opens tomorrow!
Funding is available to artists, businesses, community groups and non-profit community-based organisations for projects which support the achievement of the Council's Community Art Framework and Strategic Plan.
There is up to $10,000 available for public art projects and placemaking activities that create a sense of identity. The fund is competitive and will be allocated on merit.
Applications open tomorrow Monday 3rd February and close on Saturday 15th March 2025.
South Australians are predicted to see hot to very hot temperatures over the weekend and into early next week.
The state is extremely dry and we have seen quite a few small fires take off over the last few days.
We encourage the community to remain vigilant, check the fire danger ratings daily and make sure your plans are in place if a bushfire starts.
Planning any outdoor activities that have a fire risk? Ensure you understand the Fire Danger Season restrictions, a responsible person is in attendance, water or suitable fire extinguishers are available and the area is regularly checked afterwards to limit risk of a fire starting.
Additional South Australian communities may be impacted by smoke from the Victorian fires.
Predictions are estimating the smoke spreading from the Victorian & South Australian border will continue moving west across the state and can be expected whilst the fires continues to burn.
However, if you observe any smoke followed by flames or thick smoke plumes, please call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
Smoke can affect your health. You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others. Smoke may also impact roads reducing visibility, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
📸Bureau of Meteorology smoke predictions for 9.30 am Saturday 1 February 2025

💰COMMUNITY CHEST GRANTS NOW OPEN 💰
In 2023/24 The Nurtured Village Hampers Upper SE Limestone Coast branch were awarded a Community Chest grant to create a promotional video to raise awareness of the Nurtured Village Hampers and further support the local community.
When asked how this project will benefit the community, they responded with:
'Research shows that 1 in 5 mums will be diagnosed with postnatal depression. Through capturing the process of collecting and delivering a hamper to a local mum in the Naracoorte area, we can then utilise this video to encourage the community, gain more community members and support local families though hampers and donations.'
Round 1 of the Community Chest is now open. The program aims to encourage, develop and support community and sporting groups to increase usage of local facilities, foster development of community services, activities and events, providing opportunities for community participation and benefitting residents of Naracoorte Lucindale Council.
To find out more about Community Chest, including if you are eligible and how to apply visit 👉 https://bit.ly/nlccommchest
Applications for round 1 close 5pm Friday 23 August 2024.
