Visitors, as you explore our beautiful region, you may be lucky enough to spot a koala in the wild. During the hot summer months, koalas have been observed spending more time on the ground to keep cool, as the gum leaves they eat dry out in the heat. They have also been seen hugging tree trunks, which act as natural air conditioners, providing them with much-needed relief from the high temperatures.

If you do come across a koala, we kindly ask that you admire it from a distance and avoid engaging with it, as this can cause unnecessary stress. However, if you would like to help, you can leave some water in a vessel like an ice cream container in close proximity to the koala. This small act can make a big difference in helping them stay hydrated during the hot weather.
Let's all work together to ensure the well-being of our local wildlife and continue to enjoy the beauty of nature in our region.

Well, that's something new 👀 Narrandera Tourism's got a brand new lookout!

You'll find the Narrandera Skywalk stretching out from the shore at Lake Talbot with views of the lake and the nearby Flora and Fauna Reserve (you might need to be a little closer to spot koalas though!).

Instagrammer .aus certainly timed their stop in town perfectly with the recent opening.

It’s time to make a splash at Lake Talbot Water Park in Narrandera Tourism 💦

The enclosed high-speed racer slides are sure to get the adrenaline pumping as you speed through the twists and turns in an effort to claim glory. Or you can always cool off in the splash park area with water jets and let the big bucket wash over you.

The park is open from 10am to 7pm, 7 days a week (and 6.30am to 8am on weekdays) but be sure to check their page for any changes to hours before you visit.

Swing down to the Narrandera Koala Festival on 7 October 2023 at Brewery Flat to pick up your tree! 🌳 🌲

FREE NATIVE TREE GIVEAWAY

Murrumbidgee Landcare Incorporated and Narrandera Shire Council have assisted Narrandera Landcare in securing 600 trees from the Newell Highway Alliance. These trees are the offset planting for the overtaking lane on Bundidgerry Hill. These trees were going to be planted in a different town, because of the hard work of Narrandera Landcare and Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc. they will stay in Narrandera.

As it is the wrong time of year to be doing large-scale tree plantings Narrandera Shire Council have come on board and will be holding a tree giveaway at the Koala festival on the 7th of October. A number of these trees will be held back, and community tree planting will take place in Autumn.

Tree species are:
• Eucalyptus macrocarpa – Western grey box
• Eucalyptus blakelyi – Blakely’s Red Gum
• Eucalyptus camaldulensis – River Red Gum
• Brachychiton populneus – Kurrajong
• Acacia deanei – Deans Wattle
• Acacia pendula – Weeping Myall
• Eucalyptus populnea – Poplar box

Come down to the Koala Festival on Saturday 7 October 2023 and look for the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Landcare stall.

There’s nothing quite like camping in spring ⛺️

The fresh mornings, the welcome sun and the sounds of nature reawakening after the cool days of winter.

Along the Murrumbidgee is the perfect spot to pitch a tent or park a camper. There are lots of free camping spots and best of all many of them give the sense of being out in the wilderness but are only a short drive from the comfort of town.
