We spent Friday exploring the waters of Cabbage Tree Island. During our morning Island Snorkelling Adventure we enountered a hawksbill sea turtle, banjo ray and crested hornshark.
During the afternoon, we returned to chill with a wobbegong shark.
Frankie, our favourite resident eastern blue groper made his presence known throughout both tours.
A younger groper, which we regularly encounter was feeling particularly photogenic... can you see the difference in the faces of the two fish?

A thick sea fog blanketed the islands and headlands of Port Stephens on Sunday. We watched it creep in as we travelled to Cabbage Tree Island on the Island Snorkelling Adventure.
At Cabbage Tree, we caught up with our favourite resident blue groper, Frankie and spotted a number of wobbegongs resting throughout the cove. A great encounter with one of the bay's larger resident pods, including PS342 and her one month old wrapped up a great morning.
During the afternoon Dolphin Watch Express, we didn't have to travel far, finding Schwinn and 3 of her offspring just outside the marina.

For Saturday's Island Snorkelling adventure we ventured to Providence Bay, Broughton Island. The Wobbegongs were the highlight of the morning- with a couple of big males, easily 2m in length, sighted resting in the shallows.
During the afternoon dolphin watch, we caught up with a large female pod, including PS342 and her one month old calf.

We kicked off our Island Snorkelling Adventure cruise on Sunday, catching up with our old mate Frankie the Eastern Blue Groper. There were a couple of turtle sightings through the morning, including a loggerhead sea turtle as we were preparing to enter the water and this beautiful hawksbill sea turtle foraging in the kelp.

Spring is the season of new beginnings. As we farewell the humpbacks for another year, we are getting reacquainted with our resident bottlenose dolphins and having first introductions with a few new residents!

On Saturday and Sunday we had great encounters with PS342 and her new calf- likely no more than a week old.
