When STEVE came to Nelson…
We were graced with a beautiful Aurora last night. It was brief before the clouds rolled in. Our Daughter who dabbles in photography managed to capture a seperate phenomenon called STEVE.
STEVE isn’t part of the Aurora Borealis, It happens when really fast-moving, hot gas flows high up in the atmosphere. This creates a streak of purple and green light across the sky. Unlike auroras, STEVE isn't made by the same kind of particles from the sun, so scientists are still trying to understand it fully.
Did you spot STEVE last night??
