One of the most asked and searched questions is how to pack for a safari. Generally, you will have limited luggage of 15kg so the key is to pack items you can wear multiple ways in cotton or linen blends. Earthy colours in browns & khaki and denim work well. Laundry is included at most lodges and will be collected in the evening and returned beautifully washed and folded the next afternoon. There is no pressure to dress up for dinners, but you can inject personality with jewellery, hats and scarves. Don’t forget swimwear to enjoy the swimming pools between game drives.
If you are travelling from Australia I found stores like @hm, @kmartaus & @targetaus have a great selection of affordable cotton & linen clothing & I found adventure stores like @mountaindesigns great for trekking and adventure clothing. Look out for sales around mid year and between seasons to pick up a bargain.
Lodges like @singita_ Kwitonda have an amazing room of gear for gorilla trekking so we borrowed gaters, gloves & a fleece, but they also have rain jackets, pants & boots if you don’t have these items (check out my Rwanda story highlight for more on the trekking experience)
Luggage should be packed in soft sided duffle bags if you are taking light aircraft.

Leaving @ollentille with the fullest heart. There is so much I want to say about this incredible property and I cannot wait to send many Australians to this untouched region of Northern Kenya. A stay @ollentille is an invitation into the Maasai culture and way of living. What they share is from the heart and there is so much I want to do to help continue their efforts in conservation and community support.
This should be on everyone’s travel list. Cannot stress enough how life changing spending the last few days here has been. This is how TRAVEL should leave you feeling…joyous, happy and full of spirit ✨
George of the Jungle, George W of the bush, Naiputari we are friends for life. Thank you for sharing your home & culture so willingly and from the heart. Eternally grateful 🙏🏼
