It's time for where in the world is everyone travelling this week!

Some of the inquiries I've been working on this week include:

* A couple wanting to tick the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu off their bucket list

* A solo traveller heading to Italy and wanting a mix of a group tour for part of the trip and then pleasing herself the rest of the time

"Last year, the carrier hinted at potential flights down the track to “several additional destinations in Australia” and those extra Aussie ports have now become a little clearer. “We believe there are still numerous underserved markets that are the perfect fit for our network including cities in Australia like Cairns and Newcastle"

Please, please, please, please Newcastle - how amazing would direct flights to Fiji be from our brand new international terminal when it's finished early next year????

More Aussies may soon have direct access to Fiji’s golden shores after Fiji Airways teased the prospect of flying to two new Australian ports.

Vivid with a difference....from the water!

The always spectacular Vivid is on in Sydney at the moment and the weather this weekend was perfect, but the crowds were projected to be huge so we jumped on a Captain Cook Cruises sightseeing cruise instead and now I don't think I'll ever do Vivid any other way!
We were onboard and sailing towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the lights turned on and then we watched the colours change across the city skyscrapers and had uninterrupted views of the story projected onto the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge pylons....amazing!

I can't believe this is the first time it's ever happened, but great to hear a European icon is being preserved!

In Florence, for the first time in its history, Ponte Vecchio is about to undergo a complete restoration, which has become necessary due to the condition of the most famous of the bridges connecting the two banks of the Arno River that bisects the city.

One of the great features of being a mobile agent is that I can go out to see my clients any time, anywhere....including school canteen!
This lovely lady has been running an amazing canteen at my son's primary school for over TWENTY YEARS and we love chatting travel whenever I'm in doing a shift 😍 After today's lunch service it was time to whip out the laptop and start planning her next trip

Day 2 of conference was dominated by supplier meetings - lots of product updates from airlines, tour operators, cruise lines, tourism boards and wholesalers. These are invaluable for helping me book the best products for my clients as well as providing great contacts for times when we need special favours and out of the ordinary requests!

A fab first official day of conference at the Sheraton Fiji including a company update and talks from the head of Virtuoso in Australia, the head of ATIA talking about the travel related lobbying they are doing on behalf of consumers and agents in Canberra, a catch up with suppliers and other agents and a quick afternoon visit to Malamal beach club!

Today it's going to be all about back to back supplier meetings getting updates and learning about some new products too.

It's almost conference time!

This year's MTA Conference will be held in the gorgeous tropical destination of Fiji so the Travel With Lani office will be closed from Thursday 23rd May until Sunday the 2nd of June.

Community service announcement:

Australian Passports are going up by 15% on the 1st July 2024, so if your passport is up for renewal or you need a new one, now is the time to do it!

As of July there will also be a new option available for fast-track passport applications, allowing customers to pay a $100 fee for a 5 business day turn around (on top of the current 2 day turn around option for $252).

A belated farewell to the couple I had head off to Europe for a bucket list, covid delayed adventure of a lifetime over the weekend!

Starting with a 3 night stopover in Singapore staying at the amazing Jen Orchardgateway (with that stunning rooftop infinity pool), they'll be on their way to London shortly to start a 3 week luxury tour of the UK and Ireland, followed by another 5 nights in London, 5 nights in Rome and then a 14 day Mediterranean cruise from Rome right around to Barcelona!!!!
