DISNEY WONDER - Days 3 and 4
Our last two days onboard were spent in Hobart followed by a Day at Sea before disembarking in Melbourne.
The ship docked in the heart of Hobart so there was no need for shuttles or anything and you could disembark at your own pace. We chose to have a later breakfast and disembark a little later in the morning to avoid any initial rush to disembark and we walked off with no delay. It was an easy, relatively flat walk into town before stopping for a later lunch of fish and chips overlooking the harbour! It was all aboard by 4pm and we departed not long after and got ready for Pirate night onboard! Our cabin attendant had arrange to put Mickey Mouse bandana for each person onboard during the morning turndown service which was a lovely surprise.

Dinner onboard that was night was back in Tritan's for us however it was a special "Pirates of the Caribbean" menu which was great and even the waiters were dressed up in their pirate unforms. Most guests onboard got into the swing of with some going all out and others just wearing the bandana. There was no show in the theatre that night so instead we enjoyed some down time before the Pirates of the Caribbean pool deck show complete with more fireworks.

For our final day onboard, we skipped breakfast as we had Brunch booked in at Palo, which is the speciality restaurant onboard. The food was just incredible with the only problem being there was so much good food! After lunch, we checked out two of the kids clubs onboard, Edge (11-14 years) and Oceaneer's Club (3-10 years) during their open sessions, packed our suitcases before it was time to eat again (we had the early dining seating at 5:45pm).

Our final dinner onboard was the much awaited Animator's Palate. What a way to finish our cruise! The food itself was one of the best we had onboard but the interactive nature of the restaurant is what made it the perfect way to finish. We won't spoil but it was alot of fun!

After dinner, we had our final show onboard which was "Dreams". We were seated up near the front for this one but what a show. The cast onboard are so talented and you can tell they love what they do! Following the show, there was a farewell show with all the main characters onboard however we skipped this as we had an early start the next day to disembark.

Our breakfast was back in Animator's Palate at 6:45am before you could start walking off with your luggage at around 7:30am or just after 8:00am if you had put tags on your luggage to be taken off the ship for you. It is a good walk through the terminal and out of Station Pier to get an Uber but it is flat. Alternatively, there is the tram stop as well which is around 600m away.

We hope you have enjoyed our experience onboard Disney Cruise Line. Kelly has sailed with Disney 4 times now and for Lauren, this was her first Disney Cruise. Kelly sailed with teenage children and Lauren on her own so our experience was slightly different to those with younger children however it still delivered the magic to everyone of all ages!

DISNEY WONDER - DAY 2
After getting to spend a full day onboard, it is obvious that sailing with Disney is very different to a regular cruise experience.. the only word is WOW 💫

Not only is the service and attention to detail next level, which comes from a very happy crew, everything they do is with the intent of having fun, relaxing and providing a magical experience. There is no upselling from the second you step onboard but instead, you and your group are “announced” and welcomed to applause by the crew and characters onboard, there is no casino, no drinks packages, no traditional shopping boutiques (but a Disney Merchandise store), there is no rushing, no waiting… instead plenty of onboard experiences like having photos with your favourite superhero, villain or character, fireworks and production shows on the pool deck (what an amazing experience), there are various alcohol tastings that you can sign up for if you wish along with happy hours at different bars in the afternoon and evenings.

We started the day with a la carte breakfast at Titan’s Restaurant where we finally got to try Mickey Waffles and various other dishes amongst the table, followed by a laidback morning around the adults only pool. Lunch we went to Cabana’s which is buffet style but again, it was very relaxed, no one was rushing around and a variety of options.

After lunch, we had an inspection of the Deluxe Interior Staterooms and Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms (see images below) before heading off for our matinee performance of Frozen in the Walt Disney Theatre.. it was just incredible! The cast certainly bought their own sense of joy to make it even better and it was well received by not only the kids onboard but adults as well… there were even tears from some guests!

Following the show, we had a bit of down time and then it was time for happy hour by the adults only pool before dinner at Tritan’s Restaurant where it was French night. The meal was delicious and during dinner, we had a visit from Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy who did a dance around the dining room which was great for all the kids (and big kids)!

After dinner, we went back to the Cadillac Lounge for Happy Hour where Wil the Pianist from the night before was back to play his set of Elton John and Billie Joel favorites before moving on to different songs for the next set. This is fast becoming a favourite late night bar for us as the vibe is amazing and the service is fantastic.

Last, and the absolute highlight of the day was the Avengers production “Heroes Unite” and fireworks show up on Pool Deck. I’ll post the video on a separate post after this one!

Today, we are in Hobart and it is Pirate night onboard so another amazing day and night awaits 💫 🏴‍☠️

DISNEY WONDER - Day 1
Yesterday, Kelly and Lauren boarded Disney Wonder on a 4 night sailing from Sydney to Melbourne with a stop in Hobart.

Boarding the ship was smooth and you moved through each stage with minimal queues. Disney are very strict on boarding at your allocated time only so don’t plan to turn up early as you will be waiting until your turn. This did help with the minimal queues once inside the terminal though so it does work!

Once we were on, we were straight to an a la carte lunch in Tiana’s Place which was a wonderful way to start the cruise and then to our staterooms where our bags were already waiting by 1:30pm! The staterooms are just beautiful with a beautiful timber bed (that is very comfortable), plenty of storage and a separate bathroom and shower facilities which is perfect for families travelling together.

Later in the afternoon, we had a magical sailaway under the Sydney Harbour Bridge topped with the “horn” which is to the tune of When You Wish Upon A Star” and then it was already time for dinner! Our dinner was allocated at Tiana’s Place for our first night and this will rotate to the other venues for our remaining nights. Dinner was just as delicious as lunch with a Southern twist and during dinner we were treated to a wonderful Jazz Band complete with a conga line!

After dinner, a chance to watch the sunset from my balcony and then it was time for the production show of the evening, The Golden Mickey’s! I don’t have any photos as it isn’t allowed however it was fantastic and very nostalgic.

A quick night cap in the adults only area, The Cadillac Bar with a fantastic pianist and it was time to watch The Lion King in bed (as you do when on Disney)!

Day 1 wrap up and I would say it is nostalgic and elevated family cruising but is also wonderful if you are sailing without children and looking for a cruise with a difference. There are so many small touches with the service and the Disney theme has been done in a very classy way and the food is incredible. Day 2 will be a busy day and we’ll post more areas of the ship tomorrow!
