|| COUNCIL ELECTION CARETAKER PERIOD ||

From 12pm on Tuesday 17 September 2024, Hindmarsh Shire Council will enter an Election Period prior to the 2024 (Local Government) Council election on Saturday 26 October 2024.

We need to ensure that Council actions do not interfere with the election process and our Election Period processes help guarantee that elections are conducted fairly and ethically while safeguarding the authority of the incoming Council.

The Local Government Act 2020 provides direction around what kind of information can be published by Council or using Council resources during the Election Period. These resources include social media.

To avoid any potential breaches of the Act, Council and Council associated committees will not be posting to social media during this period, unless material is authorised by the CEO as not likely to influence the election outcome.

All comments on Council social media posts will be hidden to ensure adherence to the Act.

IIDIMBOOLA GOOD FRIDAY ROYAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL APPEAL||
Come and join the Dimboola Lions and Bendigo Bank at the Dimboola Recreation Reserve for a fun packed morning of activities, prize draws and food... Gates open at 9am, $5 per child entry gets them a bucket with goodies, access to face painting, jumping castle, easter egg hunt, colouring in competition and much more. All proceeds from gate sales go the Royal Childrens Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

All Parks Victoria managed parks and reserves within the Wimmera District are closed tomorrow for public safety due to the Catastrophic fire rating Wednesday 28 Feb 2024.

Due to the increased high bushfire risk, parks listed below will be signed, patrolled and visitors / campers asked to leave and find an alternative location.

There’s plenty happening at the Dimboola this evening with the Peter Taylor Memorial Waterski Event on the banks of the Wimmera River.
The weather is beautiful and the atmosphere is fabulous. It’s worth visiting.

Big Skies and Big Moons ... as the winter rains (slowly) give way to the milder spring nights, there's no better place to take a look at our night skies than Hindmarsh. This fantastic shot by Lynton Brown shows the full moon setting over wheat crops on the outskirts of Nhill.
