|| LITTLE DESERT BUSHFIRE THANK YOU EVENT THIS SATURDAY ||

Don’t forget to join us this Saturday 29 March 2025 at Dimboola Soundshell for our Little Desert Bushfire Thank you Event starting at 6pm.

We will have live music from 'Dog and Bass’ and ‘Headrush’, student art displays, face painting, giant games, popcorn, Toby’s Sky Tours and a bushfire photo slideshow.

Food will be available from vendors including the Lions Club BBQ, Hotbox, Lots of Laughter, Chris & Ann’s Quick Bites, Big Bertha, Caffe de Kerb and Tr4ces Treatz.

An auction will take place during the night with all proceeds going to local CFA Brigades - see poster for more details on what will be up for grabs!

BYO Alcohol, Chairs and Blankets.

The Dimboola Rowing Club’s new beer garden will also be open (no BYO) to purchase drinks at their premises.

||RIVERSIDE HOLIDAY PARK DIMBOOLA OPEN THIS WEEKEND ||
We are excited to announce that the Riverside Holiday Park Dimboola will be re-opening this weekend.
Please encourage your family and friends to book and spend time in Dimboola to assist our region to rebound from the Little Desert Bushfire.
The park is looking amazing with beautiful lush green grass and spotless amenities after being given a big spring clean.
We look forward to seeing you all back in Dimboola and visiting our region.

||THE EUCALYPTUS OIL INDUSTRY||
From the time of the first European settlement there has been interest in the medicinal properties of Eucalyptus Oil.
In the 1880s the first large-scale commercial eucalyptus oil operations commenced in the Mallee-Wimmera area of northwestern Victoria. Joseph Bosisto, backed by Melbourne businessmen Alfred Felton and Frederick Grimwade, established the 'Eucalyptus Mallee Company' in 1882, based at the 600 acre Antwerp Station, near the town of Dimboola. This was followed by many more dotted along the banks of the lower Wimmera River.

|| DIMBOOLA RIVERSIDE HOLIDAY PARK CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ||

Due to the current active bushfire in the Little Desert that is impacting our region, the Dimboola Riverside Holiday Park is currently closed until further notice for guests to provide support accommodation for emergency services. Our three alternate parks in Jeparit, Rainbow, and Nhill have limited availability.

Council is working through contacting guests that have bookings at the holiday park to discuss their options.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate the current bushfire on our doorstep.

||ARKONA SILO: SMUG’S INVISIBLE MAN||
10km north of Dimboola on the way to Jeparit lies one of the most unique artworks along the entire Silo Art Trail.
World renowned mural artist Smug created this fitting homage to local Arkona legend the late Rolly Klinge. Painting a photorealistic portrait on the scale of a grain silo of someone the artist could not meet and photograph created a challenge. Smug developed the idea of painting a unique tribute to Roley reflecting his passion for tennis and iconic terry-towelling hat and glasses, but making his body invisible.

||THE LITTLE DESERT BOMBING RANGE||
During World War Two, Nhill aerodrome served as a Royal Australian Airforce training base. Part of this training was practice bomb targets. Remains of observation towers are still visible from the Nhill Harrow Rd. Visit these via four-wheel drive or walking along the sandy vehicle tracks.

IITAKE A STROLL ALONG THE WIMMERA RIVER AT DIMBOOLA||
Immerse yourself in the beautiful riverine environment by taking one of the numerous walks along the Wimmera River in Dimboola. Dominated by large stands of River Redgums, these walks allow a relaxing connection with nature only a short walk from the town centre or the Riverside Holiday Park. There is plenty of birdlife and wildlife to see along the way as well.

||THE HIDDEN SECRET OF HERMANS HILL||
This beautiful walk just west of the Nhill-Rainbow Road takes you through Mallee shrubs, acacias and tea-trees to a newly upgraded lookout. The views across the Big Desert and Wyperfeld National Parks are expansive as the wilderness reaches to the horizon.

||DIMBOOLA'S RAIL HISTORY||
While visiting Dimboola take the time to visit Apex Park at the corner Lloyd St and High St. Rail has played a significant role in Dimboola's history. Dimboola holds a unique place in the national rail network sitting halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. Still today, Dimboola is home to many train drivers who swap shifts at the half-way point between the two cities.

||DIMBOOLA MURAL BY TRAVIS PRICE||
Renowned street artist Travis Price created this striking mural tying Dimboola to its past. The mural, facing the Dimboola Library, incorporates acknowledgement that the town sits on Wotjobaluk Country and highlights the traditional name for the area "Watchegatcheca" which means "Wattle Tree and White Cockatoos".
