We've put together a bit of information here to help people understand the importance of Hike Training 🙂

To be the best hiker that you can be, you need to be physically, mentally and emotionally prepared. As professional guides, we see unprepared people trying to tackle hikes that are beyond their ability, far too often. Those who are full of machoism and false bravado will throw their fists in the air...

Chasing waterfalls in the rain. There’s two ways to find Kureelpa Falls on the Sunshine Coast. One is an approx 8.5km circuit hike from Mapleton Day Use Area which we have done previously and gets to the top of the falls. The second is from the end of Kureelpa Falls Rd which is much shorter at approximately 1-2km each way but not as clearly marked and this takes you to the base of the falls which is where we went today 🙂. Followed by Turpentine trail which is also from Mapleton Day Use are 😁. Stunning region!

Visiting or living in Toowoomba - this one or for you! Table Top mountain is a relatively steep climb with a scramble near the top and 360 degree views complete with Table Top loop at the summit. It took me about 20minutes to reach the summit inclusive of photo stops of course. Be very careful on the way down as it is loose for the first section and slippery on the second. Oh and one more thing - don’t be fooled by the first ‘summit’ you go up, then down, then up again! Overall a very enjoyable climb - Pru 💖

If you are looking for a lesser known trail on the Sunshine Coast I highly recommend Yul-Yan-Man (means ‘Walk Slowly’ in Kabi Kabi) Track, Glasshouse Mountains. It’s one of my favourites due to its varying grade throughout, with some good challenging sections and not many people usually. I head out along Yul-Yan-Man and back along Soldiers Settler’s Trail. Probably not one for the younger kids or beginners and it does get very hot so early in the day is better 🙂.

This morning I followed it with a visit to Scenic Lookout Glass House Mountains which is an awesome spot for and adventure with kids or a BBQ lunch as there’s a short (about 800m) track, amazing views, BBQ areas, tables and facilities 😁.

It’s Sunday on Yul-Yan-Man which translates to ‘Walk Slowly’ in Kano Kabi and this Lace Monitor is certainly taking his time ... such a beautiful creature - Pru 💖

For anyone who missed out on the first two courses, here's the final one for the year :)

For those who find themselves pointing South when trying to point North (and I know there are a lot of you, I've seen it lol). This introduction to navigation course will not only help you understand which way north is but also give you the foundation skills in map reading and compass use :)
