We’ve walked 23km of the 71km journey so far! Along the way, we've been lucky to share it with Nala 🐕, family, and friends. Huge thanks to the kind neighbours who’ve left out organic lemons for us to enjoy 🍋 – what a wonderful community we have!

Springtime in Adelaide is absolutely magical – the birdlife is in full song 🎶, and the flowering trees are putting on quite the show 🌸. We even stumbled across a street lined with cork trees! 🌳 Have you ever seen one? They’re rare and such a treat to find.

A Beautiful Encounter at Adelaide Botanic Gardens 🌸

As we strolled through the stunning Adelaide Botanic Gardens, we were lucky enough to have this little beauty—a kookaburra—right beside us! 🐦 Perched calmly on a Rose Garden Activities sign, he seemed to be eyeing up a few worms in the fresh, damp soil after some light rain earlier that Friday. 🌦️

The roses were absolutely breathtaking for this time of year, adding to the magic of the moment. 🌹✨ Surrounded by their vibrant colors and the fresh scent of the garden, it was an unforgettable experience. And our kookaburra friend just sat there, watching us take photos and enjoy him, totally at ease.

These are the kind of moments that make South Australia so special—stunning birdlife, gorgeous blooms, and peaceful encounters in nature. 💚

History Friday - "Explore Gawler’s Rich Railway Legacy 🚂✨"

A Bridge with History - From this photo's sign you're looking at a bridge that has played a vital role in Gawler’s railway system for over a century. This bridge crosses the South Para River on the line to the Barossa, built in 1911 to replace the original wooden structure."

The Railway’s Beginnings • "The railway originally connected Adelaide to Gawler in 1857, with the line stopping at the current Gawler station. As the line extended northward, bridges like this one were built to cross the Gawler and South Para Rivers, paving the way for regional growth."

Engineering Evolution -The visible bridge, built in 1911, was reinforced during WWII to support heavier trains. Just beyond it lies another bridge, built in 1859/60, crossing the Gawler River on the line to Roseworthy & Kapunda."

Honoring a Pioneer - Nearby, along the Gawler River, stands a statue of James Martin, the engineering genius behind much of Gawler’s industrial growth. This statue commemorates his incredible contributions to the railway system and the town’s development.

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending a fantastic event at Jarmer's Kitchen in Bowden, hosted by NOVA Entertainment with Nova 919; FIVEaa and Smoothfm Adelaide. It was an inspiring day filled with innovative ideas and exciting new campaigns that can help businesses
tell their unique stories. Loved connecting with the creative minds behind these stations and learning how they can bring your unique story to life for their listeners. As every business has a unique story to share.

Jarmer's Kitchen was a delight, serving up delicious coffee in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. If you haven't been, it's definitely worth a visit—and it’s just a pleasant walk through the parklands from our North Adelaide homes!

All three stations—Nova, FiveAA, and SmoothFM—offer an incredible variety of programs and well-known presenters to tune into. 🎬✨ A Night at the Odeon Star Cinemas: A Trip Down Memory Lane ✨🎬

Last Wednesday evening, had the pleasure of attending a 7 PM session of the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing at the Odeon Star Cinemas in Semaphore. It was a delightful experience! The nearly full house buzzed with excitement as we relived the magic of this iconic film on the big screen.

Do you remember when you first saw Dirty Dancing? Patrick Swayze's unforgettable moves and the film's timeless romance had everyone reminiscing. The Odeon Star Cinema, a historic gem since 1937, added to the charm with its classic ambiance. From the old projector on display to the fantastic choc top ice creams, every detail enhanced the nostalgic atmosphere. And let’s not forget the mechanical horse rides out front—perfect for putting a smile on your children's faces and evoking fond memories for parents who remember their own rides on these classic attractions.

History Friday - GAWLER SHOW 170 years - Amazing history

Gawler Show, one of South Australia’s most historic and enduring events, has been a significant part of the community since its inception in 1854. Originally established as a focal point for the agricultural district of Gawler, the show began as a way for locals to gather, celebrate, and trade their agricultural achievements. Over the years, it has evolved into South Australia's largest country show, attracting over 30,000 attendees annually.

The show's origins are deeply rooted in Gawler's agricultural heritage, showcasing the strengths of the region in crops, sheep farming, and other pastoral activities. The first committee comprised prominent local figures who recognized the value of creating a large-scale festival for the community. The show was, and still is, driven by a strong volunteer spirit, with many locals contributing their time and efforts to ensure its success.

Throughout its long history, the Gawler Show has adapted to the changing needs of the community while maintaining its agricultural roots. 🌟 What a Weekend at the Gawler Show! 🌟

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of attending the fabulous Gawler Show —the largest country show in South Australia, now in its 170th year! With perfect weather on Saturday, we managed to see all the amazing sights: the animal nursery, farm machinery displays, wool classing, crafts, sideshows, and of course, showbags galore. There was even a competition to win a car! 🚗

Over 25,000 people joined in the fun over the two days, and we want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible volunteers, close-knit community, sponsors and organizers who made it all possible. Gawler truly shines with its love for sport and farm traditions—such a warm and inviting community! 💛

We loved grabbing an ice cream and metwurst, smelling the hay, and enjoying the live music on stage. The fireworks on Saturday night were the perfect finale! 🎆

So many people traveled by train, making it super easy to get to the show. And speaking of easy, if you're visiting South Australia, why not stay in Gawler at our beautiful new home, Country Style Louisa? 🐾 Happy International Dog Day! 🐾

Today, we're celebrating a very special member of our family—our beloved Nala! 🐶

She's a 5-year-old Red Kelpie, traditionally a fantastic farm dog, but this little lady has fully embraced city life. Nala is all about those daily walks, and she's become quite the local celebrity with her playful energy and cheeky personality. She’s smart, loving, and has a knack for rounding us up like we’re her flock—especially on our walks! 🚶‍♀️💨

But there’s more to Nala than just her fun-loving spirit. In September, Nala and I will be embarking on our third year of walking for PanKind, raising awareness and much-needed funds for pancreatic cancer research. Last year, this dynamic duo conquered 68 kilometers, and this year we’re stepping it up to 71 km, because, sadly, the number of people affected by this terrible disease is on the rise. 💜

We wanted to share Nala’s story with you today on International Dog Day because she’s more than just a pet—she’s a treasured part of our family. 🐕‍🦺

Over the years, it has evolved into South Australia's largest country show, attracting over 30,000 attendees annually. 🌟 What a Weekend at the Gawler Show! 🌟 Last weekend, we had the pleasure of attending the fabulous Gawler Show —the largest country show in South Australia, now in its 170th year! With perfect weather on Saturday, we managed to see all the amazing sights: the animal nursery, farm machinery displays, wool classing, crafts, sideshows, and of course, showbags galore. There was even a competition to win a car! 🚗 Over 25,000 people joined in the fun over the two days, and we want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible volunteers, close-knit community, sponsors and organizers who made it all possible. Gawler truly shines with its love for sport and farm traditions—such a warm and inviting community! 💛 We loved grabbing an ice cream and metwurst, smelling the hay, and enjoying the live music on stage. The fireworks on Saturday night were the perfect finale! 🎆 So many people traveled by train, making it super easy to get to the show. History Friday 🚂🌟 How amazing are the old steam trains at Pichi Richi Railway in Quorn, South Australia? Last weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to be part of RailFest 2024, celebrating 50 years since the first restored steam train journey from Quorn to the Summit. 🚂✨ These beautifully restored steam locomotives, brought back to life by passionate volunteers, are a testament to the rich history of the steam train era. Our journey took us from Quorn to Woolshed Flat, where we enjoyed delicious homemade food prepared by the wonderful CWA volunteers. We even had the honor special guests like Her Excellency, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, the 36th Governor of South Australia on the train ride & watch cut the ribbon for the opening of the event.
