The beautiful landscapes of the Tarkine Region take on another life during winter. We see mountains dusted in snow, effervescent waterfalls, and roaring seas. Our clear night skies light up with the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights), a phenomenon only visible in a few places in the world.

We’re proud of the bewilderment of our Tasmanian winters and invite you to come embrace this time of year with us.

Need some inspiration for your next weekend getaway? Only an hour away from our Black Bluff Retreat, Narawntapu has been dubbed the “Serengeti of Tasmania”, as it is one of the best places in Tasmania to view wildlife. The park boasts a rich array of easily observed animals including Forester Kangaroos, Bennett Wallabies and the common Wombat, not to mention breathtaking views around every corner.

We’re proud to provide priceless experiences, all made possible by Geology and Biology major Paul O’Halloran who you will come to know as your guide leader. His passion began at the farm he grew up on- right next to the Tarkine. You know what they say about locals? They know the secret spots, the things you really don’t want to miss out on. Secluded between the Inglis River and Table cape in Wynyard, Tasmania is the serene and prehistoric Fossil Bluff. With a rich geological history, visiting at low tide brings this beach to life when the natural phenomenon of Tillite that formed hundreds of millions of years ago (along with millions of many species of fossils) are revealed.

Each day we are fortunate to become lost in bewilderness amongst the last of the world’s wilderness that exists and it’s in our own backyard. Welcome to the Tarkine in the North West Coast of Tasmania.

We’re also immensely proud to introduce you to Tarkine Talking, an invitation to openly discuss preserving, conserving, educating and sharing the beauty of the Tarkine with the world, championing the ideals that are critical to not only retaining but ensuring the future of the Tasmanian wilderness, where you will be bewildered in the wilderness.

Less than an hour from Burnie, the Tarkine awaits. Rare Earth Tasmania tours lead small groups of like-minded lovers of the wilderness into the harsh extreme of the Tasmanian Tarkine. Softly.

We welcome you to be part of the conversation. Share with your friends and let’s start up some Tarkine Talking.
