Country House Retreat is the ideal hoiday house for couples, families or friends seeking to stretch out and relax together in a peaceful and private setting, amongst nature. Country House Retreat is a contemporary rural homestead situated between Metung & Lakes Entrance, offering an "escape to the country" like no other in our region. Country House Retreat has been set up for couples, families or

friends to come and enjoy relaxed country living, with coastal beaches, tourist villages, historic rail trails and the magnificent Gippsland Lakes all in close proximity. Features of Country House Retreat include a large entertainment deck with pizza oven, BBQ and outdoor dining. The outdoor heated spa provides year round relaxation and fun for young and old. Consisting of four bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, this home can comfortably accommodate 10 people. The main bedroom features a king coil queen bed, with a sublime, wheelchair accessible ensuite offering views of the native bushland behind the house, plus a walk in robe. Two bedrooms feature trilogy bunks (double bed with single up top), with the fourth bedroom offering a king coil king size bed or the option of two single beds. The kitchen is stocked to feel like a home away from home. Slow cook, blend, stir fry or sizzle your way to a fabulous meal with cooktop, oven and microwave. Plenty of plastic ware for the little people in your lives and dining outdoors, plus salt and pepper, cooking spray, foil, cling wrap supplied for your convenience. If you’re not on duty keep the chef company in the open plan kitchen/dining area as you admire views of the country side from each window. Coffee pod machine and arrival tea/coffee amenities are also provided. In the cooler months enjoy a cosy log fire (with all wood provided), or just switch on the split system for instant warmth and comfort. Stretch out on the plush leather sofa for some screen time in front of the 55 inch HD TV, or plug your favourite tunes into the portable speaker and dance like no-one’s watching (did we mention the privacy and seclusion?). Deluxe hotel quality linen and towels are provided for each guest. Laundry features LG washing machine plus all the things you’ll need to keep your house in order after a day at the beach! Pets that are clean and flea free are most welcome but must be past the chewing phase. Pets are permitted to enter the house and stay on non-carpeted areas. Pets are not permitted into the carpeted bedrooms for hygiene reasons. One large or two smaller dogs are permitted per stay. If your furry friend prefers the great outdoors there is a fully enclosed dog/cat run adjacent to the homestead with kennel for your pet to call home. The house yard is also securely fenced for children and pets to roam freely and safely around the lawn area. Owners Steve & Kim Kleinitz live adjacent to the property on a working farm. Their curious, friendly cows help to keep the grass down at Country House Retreat, and welcome new visitors.

Got a horse lover in the family? Honey our beautiful quarter horse can often be found grazing in the paddock adjacent to the property. She likes human company, and will be only too happy to oblige with some close encounters (especially if there's a carrot or apple on offer!).

Our little school at Nungurner celebrated its centenary recently. It was an incredibly special and heartfelt day, full of goosebump moments as memories were shared, stories were told and (re)connections were savoured.

It was made extra special by the homecoming of Lee & Paula from - whose songs and stories capture the essence of this pleasant little place we’re lucky enough to call home.

In a nod to his “wild and free” childhood, our 10 year old rode home from school today on our horse. 🐴😊

Let’s hope his descendants are doing this 100 years from now. 💯

Spring time is a great time of year to visit our farm stay property.

The sheep are lambing. 🐑
The horses are gorging themselves on the spring grass. 🐴
And Hugo (the border collie) is always happy to meet some new four legged city friends, and show them how we roll out here. 🐾😂

There's plenty to do in our region, but there's no pressure if you want to just hibernate for awhile and let the kids roam free.

If you're a Victorian then you'll be starting to look forward to the upcoming long weekend next month for the AFL Grand Final. Whether you're a footy fan or not, we think it's the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a weekend in the Gippsland Lakes region. Your itinerary could include exquisite food and wine experiences, geo thermal bathing, ocean fishing, lake exploring, mountain biking, and more.

Then again, you and your favourite friends could simply settle in to our luxury farmhouse to watch the game on the big screen, soak in the hot tub and fire up the pizza oven, for a relaxing long weekend (furry friends welcome!).

Accessible Welcome Framework in action.

The WELCOME Framework is a result of the national Accessible Tourism Mentoring Pilot Project. This project mentored 110 tourism operators around Australia to improve accessibility and inclusion. Gippsland tourism operators were included in the program. Eleven tourism businesses acted as accessible tourism champions for the project.
Congratulations to Kim Kleinitz from Country House Retreat in Nungurner for being an exemplar and tourism champion. Champions offer examples and advice for other tourism operators wanting to become more accessible.

Tripped the road fantastic to Bairnsdale last night to enjoy dinner with friends at @northerngroundfood. Oh. My. Heavens. It was the stuff of foodie dreams. The first few share plates disappeared before I remembered to whip my phone out. Thank you Rob for your exquisite food and the intimate new space you’ve created for locals and visitors to enjoy.
