Unfortunately the last lot of snow and wind in November resulted in the demise of the beautiful Hickory tree at the entrance to Hickory Moon. Today we had to cut down what was left of it. Sad to see such a beautiful tree go but there are plenty of smaller hickory trees emerging in the vicinity so it won't be long until we have a replacement 🌳

We love it when the locals stay at Hickory Moon. We love it even more when they stay for their wedding and have their photos taken in our garden. I think you'd all agree Sophie and Joel were the perfect couple.

Then on to for a lovely lunch at the pub followed by an exploration of this charming village.

The Pioneer Rail Trail is a great walking track at Oberon. It's 6 km long, easy level walking and a great way to spend a couple of hours. So if you're looking for some exercise when you stay at Hickory Moon ask me for more details.

If you enjoy a good bush walk (with a hill or two 😜) Oberon has its very own mini walk on the southern edge of the town. Walk through beautiful Australian bush down to the edge of Lake Oberon. Then wind your way back up the hill via the golf course.
Alternatively you can walk across to the dam wall but only when the water level is lower than it is at the moment.
It's about a 30 minute walk.

Here's a little tip for our guests, Oberon has a fantastic 18 hole golf course. The course is adjacent to Lake Oberon and has fantastic views to the South and West. There's a club house too with beer on tap and a restaurant.
