Hello, all bit of late update on our Japan tour. But here is a bit of summary 😁

First of all, it was a test of leg endurance. On average we walked about 12-14,000 steps! Sore!

Our trip started from Fukuoka (south west of Japan) we went down to Kumamoto and proceed our way to the east through Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and on our final week we were in Tokyo.

Almost everything we have been through including food, public transport system and our hotel/airbnb was amazing. People was so friendly and helpful especially with my limited Japanese that I have been learning couple of years before we started this trip. (a note for those who re planning to go to Japan please do not expect they know english, english is not the official language there and please take a time to learn a bit about Japanese before you go, they ll appreciate that)

If I could describe how Japan is in one sentence, “it is like going to another planet”

Their public transport system and train network is so vast and advance although some train stations do still feel old and need to be updated with not enough escalator for the elderlies. But the punctuality and how they organise everything including how people gets to line up before boarding trains are an example that other countries should follow.

Public toilets are very clean even the one in shinkansen train looks cleaner than my house toilet lol

My most memorable place is this shinto shrine called itsukushima jinja. It is situated on an island in Hiroshima and although it was raining when we were there but it was a majestic place.

Deers in Nara are so noble they bow to you when you bow to them, legend has it that the budhist monks hundreds of years ago taught them so their offsprings actually still follow this behaviour till today.

Went to Todaiji temple in Nara, a budhist temple built around 730 ad, there we witnessed the amazing ancient Japan architecture marvel with attention to detail.

Food was cheap and fantastic, even the ready made bento boxes from convenience store were great tasting.

Everything there is well planned, structured, managed and made.
Even the humble mochi, i ve never seen such dedication to make such a humble snack like mochi

One thing that was not really convenient was some places especially in Kyoto are so overcrowded but its しかたがない (shikataganai) or no choice or it was just too bad.

Oh there is this thing that really caught my attention. Their toilet. I am so addicted that I actually bought the Japanese electronic toilet seat (picture is below)

Nara Day Tour goes to Singapore - Japan

part 1:

After got lost a little bit in the overly developed urban rail transit system where trains running multilevel underground, we managed to get to our hotel in Clarke Quay. The stinky sticky hot weather in Singapore didnt lessen our spirit in enjoying our first day of holiday with mom and dad tagging along with us.

Our singapore airline Airbus A350 was good with plenty of entertainment and FREE WIFI!!!! for (krisflyer member) but wasnt really a smooth flight with turbulence here and there and lots of crying babies too. Those little ones couldnt cope with the turbulence and pressure in their ear and stomach, poor bu**er.

Anyway, got into the Ibis hotel where we re staying and went straight to shower oh boy i never thought about how water is sooo precious especially after a hot sticky day.

So next thing we wanna do is ? Yep, food, lots and lots of food, hawker food, this is what we re here for. Singapore is like food heaven, the bread and butter of Asian food, cheap, tasty, and FUN!!

So we head straight to one of the well known hawker food stall in Singapore, The Lau Pa Sat, about 15 min walk from our hotel. Did I say walk? yea nah, cant be bothered. So I took my phone out and ordered ourself a Grab car, so yeah, in Singapore they got no Uber or didi, they got Grab. Cost about sg$14 to get our hungry self to Lau Pa Sat and the lady that picked us up was so friendly and she gave quite a comprehensive tour commentary for our 12 min ride haha, I told her that we run a tour company in Melbourne and she was like “woooww oh i so want to be a tour guide!!!” she can be a great tour guide for Nara if only she would move to Melbourne

Anyway got us in Lau Pa Sat and oh my goodness, we were blown away, check out these pics, it is self explanatory. We ordered like 7-8 different kind of dishes, from omelete oyster stirfry to sotong (squid) and tiger prawn satay, we ate so much we had to sit and let it settle before we can go home. We had about 7-8 sugar cane drinks (i know crazy right) but they re like 2$ for a big cup, think i have to do a blood test again after i return.

Anyway, we walked back to the hotel with a big happy smile, and stinky sweaty shirt. Another shower is mandatory.
