Happy to have this space available for caravan stays again 😊 You can wander along our coastal pathway in to town and enjoy views of the best coastline on the way!

Council is pleased to announce that the remediation work is now complete, and the Midway Point Reserve has re-opened just in time for Summer.

Note: Signage is currently on its way and the Reserve will be regularly patrolled by Council staff to ensure campers are self-contained, and short-term stay restrictions are adhered to. Thanks to the community for your patience.

That's right folks, our little penguins are coming ashore again to nest! Our volunteer guides will be attending the platform every evening starting at dusk. You're welcome to visit!

ROAD CLOSURES AND LIMITED ACCESS | PENGUIN RUNNING FESTIVAL

The Penguin Running Festival will be held on Sunday 12 February 2023 with 500 runners from across Tasmania and interstate participating in events from 1km to a 42.2km marathon.

Main Road (along the foreshore) and Penguin Road (the old coast road) will be closed throughout the morning of the event.

The road closure will extend from Johnsons Beach Road intersection, to the property at 241 Penguin Road, West Ulverstone.

The old coast road section, from Crescent Street (rail crossing) to West Ulverstone will be closed from 5.00am until 12.00 midday.

The foreshore section of Main Road from Johnsons Beach Road to Crescent Street (rail crossing) will be closed from 5.00am to 2.00pm.

Welcome to 2023 😀

We have welcomed 19,991 visitors into the Penguin Information Centre during 2022. Thats an average of 55 people per day!

80% of visitors where from interstate and 3% of international origin, together representing 3% of Tasmania's holidaying visitors. Hopefully this year we can grow that percentage 🤞

The remaining 17% (3,420) were local (Tasmanian) visitors. That's a great representation and we love seeing you venture to our little town 🐧 Thank you!

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our region in 2023, and hope that the year brings many new adventures 🚗✈️🛳
