ABCWA will be holding its Annual General Meeting this year at Squire Patton Boggs Office following our first VIP Roundtable Luncheon on Tuesday 26 October 2021.

The guest of honour for the event is Hon. Richard Court, Former Premier of WA and most recently Australian Ambassador to Japan. Mr Court will address the board with a topic “Western Australia’s Asian Journey”

ABCWA and its board members will take the opportunity in this intimate roundtable to discuss our mutual interest in the future of Asian engagement.

The ABCWA’s Executive team led by Chair Young Yu had the pleasure of meeting Honourable Roger Cook MLA Deputy Premier; Minister for Health;, Medical Research; State Development, Jobs and Trade; Science. ABCWA agreed to collaborate and will make contributions to WA’s economic recovery, job creation and the development of a diversified economy by continuing Asian Engagement with a focus on Asian trade and investment facilitation into the future.

Businesses across the state are being encouraged to enter the annual Western Australian Export Awards.

The awards recognise local businesses for the significant contribution they make to both the state and national economies.

Applications close on Friday 6 August 2021, the finalists will be notified in September with winners to be announced later that month.

Winners will go on to represent Western Australia at the national Australian Export Awards in November 2021.

Western Australian businesses can enter 13 different award categories, including: Agribusiness; Food and Beverages; Advanced Technologies; International Education and Training; Minerals, Energy and Related Services; Manufacturing and Advanced Materials; Regional Exporter; and Small Business.

This year’s event recognises the extraordinary impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on WA businesses and their ability to continue trading.

The Western Australian Export Awards are coordinated by Invest and Trade Western Australia and managed by its program partner, the Export Council of Australia.

ABCWA and its founding members had the pleasure of joining The Right Honourable Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas and fellow councillors at City of Perth for a Round table luncheon to exchange ideas for Asian engagement in discussions to unite and strengthen the relationships between Asia and Western Australia.

With eight of WA’s top ten trade partners located in Asia, accounting for 75% of WA’s total export revenue and many being ABCWA founding members, this further demonstrates the importance of strengthening the bilateral engagement between Asia and Western Australia.

We at ABCWA thank the Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas and the City of Perth for the Hospitality and look forward to continue the strategic partnership dialogue in Asian engagement.
