I know several brave women who've battled breast cancer. I've been feeling very sluggish in the winter down here in Denmark in the Great Southern so decided for the survivors and those who lost their battle, for the wonderful people who research new treatments and cures, and for the betterment of my own health I have undertaken to move a bit more in August. I'm sure this will pledge will incentivise me to get out and walk whatever the weather.
If you are in a position to make a donation to this worthy cause, I would love your support.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer to raise vital funds for breast cancer research. Please support me!

Reaching agreement on parenting arrangements can be particularly difficult. Sometimes we see time with kids being withheld as a bargaining chip or way to punish the other parent.

Barristers are legal practitioners whose main work is presenting cases in court and other tribunals. Most have devoted their career to advocacy and are skilled at presenting the overall case to the Court. The case evidence they present in court is prepared and outlined to them by a lawyer who has been handling the case in depth. This outline is called a 'brief'. A barrister may practice as a barrister only. They don't usually interact directly with clients.

By contrast, lawyers are legal practitioners who interact directly with clients. Their main work is giving legal advice, checking and preparing legal documents, negotiating on behalf of clients, and preparing cases for hearing. Typically, only a small amount of the work lawyers do, involves going to court for a hearing. When a lawyer is involved in a case, they usually engage the barrister to present the case in court and will prepare a brief to bring them up to speed on all relevant issues.

In some states, a person may be both a lawyer and barrister. If you engage this person, you are likely to save yourself briefing fees should your matter end up in court but this has to be weighed up against the skill of a specialised barrister to present on your behalf in court.

When you are going through a separation, there will be days when you're exhausted, stressed and ticked off with your predicament and everyone in it. It's so hard to find the light on those days but find it you must! And you will! A balanced, caring parent is the most resilient creature alive. It's OK to let them see that you are sad and struggling with the new challenges you have to face now. It's OK to let them know that life isn't always easy. Just don't make it their problem. Be careful not to fall into a situation where they feel they need to comfort you in your sadness or keep you company in your loneliness.

Let them be kids.
