When the sun starts to set on this last day of the Balinese year these demons, the Ogoh Ogoh will be carried with much noise and excitement into the streets.

A small boy can barley contain his excitement ahead of the Ogoh Ogoh, a parade of demons that takes place on the eve of Nypie, the Balinese new year.

A potent reminder of the fragility of life on planet earth and the consequences of greed.
What you're witnessing is Joseph Wachira saying goodbye to Sudan - the LAST male northern white rhino on Earth - moments before he took his final breath.
For millions of years, these magnificent creatures roamed our planet. Now? This single image by Ami Vitale captured the exact moment we lost them forever.
Sudan didn't die from poaching or habitat loss. He died from age-related complications, protected and loved by his human guardians who desperately hoped his species could somehow be saved.
When this award-winning photo was taken, Joseph wasn't just comforting an animal. He was apologizing on behalf of all humanity.
Because when we lose a species, Nightfam, we don't just lose an animal. We lose a piece of ourselves - a living reminder that our actions have consequences that echo for eternity.
Sudan's story isn't over though. Scientists are working with his preserved cells, fighting to bring his kind back from extinction. But wouldn't it be better if we protected what we have before it's reduced to frozen samples in a lab?
Let this image be more than just another sad story in your feed. Let it be your wake-up call.
What other irreplaceable treasures are we willing to lose before we finally act?

Today we honour the silent day tradition in Bali. Itβs not the religious belief of many of us here but we respect and value the Balinese people, their culture and tradition. π
