We were lucky enough to have Minister Saffitoti visit us at Hillarys Boat Harbour to launch the new subsidy program that will allow thousands of WA school kids to visit Rotto this school term.

Over 1500 kids in 48 lower-economic schools will get the opportunity to stay and learn about the rugged coastline, sustainability, rich history and wildlife of Rottnest Island.

Camps are being subsidised by the state government to allow everyone to experience island life! An awesome initiative that is looking to be expanded further next year 🙌

Harbour Master’s annual refit is done and dusted! 🧼🫧
After our wonderful, never-ending summer, Harbour Master was in desperate need of a pamper party. We’re talking a new aircon system, fresh paint coats, a good scrub, and some comfy new outdoor seats.

But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end… Vacation = Over!

Did you know?

West End is home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals🦭 The seals are often spotted playing, sunbathing, and sleeping from the Cathedral Rocks viewing platform. New Zealand Fur Seals are darker in colour and have a longer snout in comparison to other seals, they are also able to move around on land, although can be quite clumsy! 🤣

As the days are getting shorter, the sun begins to rise just in time for our 0730 departure and begins to set as our 1715 return disembarks. During the days our crew (on board and in office) are working tirelessly to organise everything behind the scenes to ensure the day is smooth sailing. All in a day’s work!👌🏼

Discover “Shark”🦈

Rottnest is the resting place of at least 13 unfortunate vessels, each meeting their fates by either encountering treacherous tides, ill-advised of the islands coral reef systems, caught adrift by the current and even misguided by drunken sailors.🌊

While many of the ships rest in the deep water away from the coastline, there is an easily accessible wreck, located just 50m off Henrietta Rocks – Stop 3 on Quokka Coaches's Island Explorer.

In 1938, ‘Shark’ - a hopper barge - broke free from its mooring in Fremantle, drifting across the channel and eventually running aground on the island coral reef system, sinking into her final resting place. ‘Shark’ now provides an underwater playground for the islands sea life, making for an exciting experience for snorkellers🤿🪸
