A delightful little Yellow-footed Rock-wallaby spotted on our South Australian Outback and Channel Country Expedition 💛
Family: Macropodidae (Wallabies, Kangaroos and Tree-kangaroos 🦘)
Conservation status: Vulnerable in SA, endangered in NSW & QLD
Threats to their survival, mainly competition for food with introduced herbivores, predation by introduced predators, and habitat fragmentation, are likely to deepen with the expected changes resulting from climate change.

The amazing wild dolphins of Monkey Mia 🐬
More than 2,000 dolphins live in the Shark Bay Area, and some 300 in the waters around Monkey Mia. Only two are fed during the dolphin experience, which counts for a very small amount of their daily food intake. This means they must still fish for themselves as well.
This was such a special encounter, as not everyone is allowed into the water during the experience…just a lucky few 😍

NEW CHRISTMAS ISLAND TOUR!
We are pleased to announce an 8 day Christmas Island tour in December 2022, which is ready to book on our website 😃
A highlight of the tour will be our walk through the rainforest to Hugh Dales Waterfall (pictured), the perfect spot for a revitalising natural shower.
The unusual rock formations you can see are called ‘tufa deposits’, a type of limestone formed by minerals precipitating out of the spring water that flows all year round 💧
Can you spot the two Christmas Island red crabs? 🦀

A special encounter with a young Frigatebird on Christmas Island 🦅
Frigatebirds are extremely agile birds designed for aerobatics, a trait that enables them to steal food from other homecoming seabirds…cheeky! The cost of this is that they can hardly walk, and avoid swimming.
Males also have an iconic red inflatable throat sac used for attracting females.

We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and that the new year brings you all good fortune ✨
In the meantime, these crabs have the right idea…time for us to get back to work!! 😆
We are now back in the office so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any enquiries.
You don’t see this everyday 😆 Predator and prey, eel vs crab. The hunt is on!
Our fantastic naturalist Neil Hamilton managed to capture this incredible wildlife encounter on Ethel Beach, Christmas Island, during our last tour.
It was thrilling to watch but I certainly wouldn’t want to be that crab!!! 🦀

A Robber Crab, also known as a Coconut Crab 🥥 warning me not to get too close!
These gentle giants are the world’s largest land crustacean, and we were lucky enough to see quite a few of them on our last Christmas Island trip 🤍
Our final tour for the year is over, and what a tour it was! Christmas Island you were simply magnificent 🦀
For the next 10 days, we will be posting a video a day in the lead up to Christmas…videos that capture what Christmas Island is all about. We hope you enjoy!
