Welcome to Makuru πΏπ§οΈ
Unlike the European weather calendar, there are six Noongar seasons in Western Australiaβs South West region. Makuru (June - July) sees the coldest and wettest time of the year. Traditionally, as lakes and waterways filled up people were able to move about their country more easily. In nature, we see many animals beginning to pair up for breeding season as well as the first blooms of delicate wildflowers πΈπΌ
It is one of our favourite seasons to experience the Perth Hills and a wonderful time to pull on your hiking boots and explore our walks and trails π£

Weekend Walk Trails | Wungong Regional Park π³ π£
If you're a fan of thrilling and adrenaline-pumping hikes, then Wungong Regional Park is a must-visit destination. This park is surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of centuries-old giant boulders, massive granite outcrops, and stunning views that will leave you in awe. βοΈ
One of the highlights of Wungong Regional Park is the Wungong Gorge Walk. This trail takes you along the valley floor of a rugged and beautiful valley, following the upstream path of Wungong Brook. As you make your way through the trail, you'll come across an old granite quarry and other dramatic rocky outcrops that add to the allure of the surroundings. The trail eventually leads to the lower parking area of Wungong Dam on Admiral Road, providing a rewarding endpoint for your hike π₯Ύ
If you're not up for the full hike, there's no need to worry - Wungong Regional Park offers a shorter version of the trail that you can take π This allows you to still experience the beauty of the park and enjoy a scenic walk without committing to the entire distance π
π To make the most of your visit, be sure to collect a trail map from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre - 40 Jull Street, Armadale.
