Fiona and Felicity recently attended the One Global Travel Community Partner Event, held in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa.

Hosted at the stunning Boschendal Farm, the week was filled with networking, workshops, and evening gatherings over fabulous food and engaging conversation.

The highlight for many was the community day at Nondzame Primary School, where partners made significant improvements together. It felt more like a reunion with friends than a business trip, strengthening their community bonds.

✈️ Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific is gearing up to restore its full pre-pandemic capacity in the Perth and Brisbane markets.

Starting October 28, 2024, the oneworld carrier will expand its Hong Kong-Perth flights from six to eleven per week and its Hong Kong-Brisbane flights from six to ten per week.

Additionally, Cathay Pacific will make a comeback to Cairns this winter after a long hiatus. From December 17 to March 29, a seasonal service will operate three return flights per week using its two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

✈️ Australians planning to visit China will soon be able to stay for up to 15 days without a visa. In addition, multiple-entry visas valid for up to five years will be available for both tourism and business trips.

The introduction of the visa waiver will not only eliminate the need for an in-person visit to an authorised Chinese visa office in Australia at least two weeks before travel but also save around $100 per person, which is the current cost for a single-entry tourist visa.

✈️ Our colleague G*i recently travelled to China for a familiarisation trip, courtesy of Air China. Here is what she had to say about her incredible experience!

“We flew direct to Beijing and spent three nights at the Hotel Shangri-La – Shougang Park, a beautiful hotel located near the 2022 Winter Olympics site. Each day was filled with activities, starting with visits to iconic sites such as the Temple of Heaven, Qianmen Street, and the Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, situated in the heart of Beijing.

We also participated in the Beijing Inbound Tourism Development Conference. Beijing Shougang Park, a former steel factory, has been transformed into a vibrant urban oasis featuring lush greenery, museums, art galleries, and a ski jump from the 2022 Winter Olympics.

One afternoon, we toured the Simatai Great Wall, where our guide led us to a stunning, unrestored section not open to the public, offering breathtaking views of the ancient fortification and the surrounding town.

After three days in Beijing, we flew to Hangzhou, a stunning city known for its beautiful lakes and rivers. We visited the picturesque village of Meijiawu and enjoyed a boat cruise on the Qiantang River. Each day, we savoured delicious Chinese banquets for lunch and dinner.

The experience was truly unforgettable, made even better by the wonderful group of people I travelled with.”

✨ Kim from our Client Relations team recently had the pleasure of attending a Pernod Ricard Winemakers supplier afternoon at their stunning Barangaroo office, which boasts breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour.

The highlight of the event was a Champagne and Cocktail Masterclass led by Pernod Ricard Brand Ambassador, Emeline. Guests delved into the champagne-making process, the rich history of Pernod Ricard champagnes, and the Champagne region.

A particularly memorable moment was learning to open a champagne bottle with the "silent whisper." Kim’s top recommendation from the session is the exquisite Perrier-Jouet Blanc de Blanc.

It was a fantastic afternoon spent catching up with the Pernod Ricard Procurement team, as well as connecting with industry colleagues, along with other category suppliers.

✈️ Jetstar to move terminals at Perth Airport

From 2 September 2024, all Jetstar domestic flights will depart and arrive from Terminal 2 at Perth Airport. Currently Jetstar domestic flights operate from Terminal 3.

The move will significantly reduce customers’ journey time between domestic and international services.

Jetstar’s international flights will continue to operate from Terminal 1 which is adjacent to Terminal 2 in the Airport Central precinct.

Qantas flights operate from Terminals 3 and 4, and passengers connecting between Qantas and Jetstar flights from 2 September 2024, are advised to allow additional transit time.

After conquering the trek to Everest Base Camp, our incredible colleague Kate embarked on an exhilarating new adventure in Morocco for another thrilling climbing challenge! 🏔️

"I did it! I climbed the highest mountain in North Africa – Mount Toubkal at 4167m!

The trip was called the Moroccan 3 Peak Challenge. The next day, I climbed the twin peaks of Mount Ouanoukrim – Ras (4083m) and Timzguida (4089m). And for good measure, I threw in a fourth peak – Toubkal West (4018m)!

It was a 3-day trip that included the 3 climbs and a 1-day hike to reach the Atlas Mountains, where I stayed in a mountain refuge with basic sleeping conditions and facilities. I was joined by 13 other travellers, all eager to climb high like me. However, 10 of them dropped out on the second day, leaving just 4 of us to complete the challenge. Hiking at high altitude is a different ball game, and the struggle for breath is real. But unlike Everest, I managed to complete all the climbs without getting altitude sickness!

I travelled to Marrakech 3 days before the hike to experience a different side of Morocco, and I was pleasantly surprised. The people, the food, the weather – all perfect! I spent my days visiting the Ouzoud Waterfalls, taking a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the desert, quad biking, and camel riding in the desert. My final piece of luxury was a traditional Moroccan Hammam Spa, which was much needed after scaling all those mountains."

✈️ Rex announces Adelaide-Perth flights

Rex has announced three weekly flights between Perth and Adelaide, just days after launching its Perth to Melbourne route. Starting this service with an Embraer E-190 operated by its subsidiary, National Jet Express, Rex will offer one-way fares from $249 in economy.

This marks the 12th intercity route introduced by Rex, strengthening its interstate connections from Western Australia’s capital.

✈️ Emirates has announced it will resume flight operations to Edinburgh starting from 4th November 2024. The highly anticipated return to the Scottish capital will complement the airline's current A380 daily flight to Glasgow and offer customers 14 weekly flights to/from the country.

The Dubai to Edinburgh route will be served utilising the Emirates A350-900 aircraft in a three-class configuration, with 32 lie-flat seats in Business Class, 21 seats in Premium Economy and 259 seats in Economy Class.

Edinburgh is a very popular leisure and business destination. The city’s Old Town and New Town are both designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From charming streets, historic castles and a thriving arts and culture scene – the city has something for everyone.

Edinburgh will be Emirates’ eighth destination in the UK. ✈️ Emirates has announced plans to retrofit an additional 43 Airbus A380s and 28 Boeing 777s.

These upgrades will include a refreshed first class, new business class seats, and the addition of premium economy.

Our team member Sara was incredibly fortunate to win two tickets to Shanghai, courtesy of Perth Airport and China Eastern Airlines. Here is what she had to say about her adventure!

"We flew directly from Perth to Shanghai on China Eastern’s seasonal service. It was -3°C when we landed late in the evening, and in true Aussie style, my partner arrived in shorts and a T-shirt. Standing at over 6 feet tall, he stood out, which made our driver chuckle as we headed to the hotel.

We stayed at the Wanda Reign on the Bund for four nights while exploring Shanghai. This luxurious hotel had beautiful features, including a bathroom mirror that doubled as a TV.

During our time in Shanghai, we explored several highlights, including:
🔹Yu Garden
🔹River Cruise on the Bund
🔹Jade Buddha Temple
🔹French Concession Districts

On our last day in Shanghai, we ventured out of the city and spent the day at the Water Town before catching a train to Beijing. The train station was packed as everyone was leaving the city before the Chinese New Year. Thankfully, we had a guide who helped us navigate the crowds.

In Beijing, we spent the next few days exploring:
🔹The Forbidden City
🔹Tiananmen Square
🔹The Great Wall of China (where we even saw snow - a memory I will cherish forever)

🏨 This week, Felicity and Kim from our Client Relations team had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders and experiencing all it has to offer.
