We said goodbye to the Golden Princess on Sunday 27 January and will welcome back the Pacific Jewel arriving tomorrow, Wednesday 30 January 2019.

The Pacific Jewel with approximately 2000 passengers and 620 crew departed Melbourne on Saturday 26 January with passengers spending the day in Adelaide yesterday (28 January), today at Kangaroo Island before arriving in Port Lincoln tomorrow and will then make its way back to Melbourne.

Again please be mindful of the many people walking around the streets and of the parking restrictions in place at the town jetty car park, for the day.

Port Lincoln Tunarama

The Bendigo Bank Tuna Toss finals were staged in perfect weather against a magnificent backdrop of Boston Bay - complete with visiting cruise ship. The crowd were entertained by emcees from Magic 899 Simmo and Jason and of course by the contestants including some visiting hammer throwers. First in the Women's Division was Althea Mackie from the Gold Coast with an impressive winning throw of 12.35 metres. Second was Natalie Hughes from Balhannah. In the Men's Division, hammer thrower Timothy Heyes from Sydney called in off a road trip and won a cool $1,000 from Bendigo Bank that will no doubt help finance the trip. Second was Levi Proud from Adelaide (and Port Lincoln ;-))

Thanks to everyone who came down tonight to the grand finale of the 2019 Bendigo Bank Tunarama Festival. The Qantaslink AAC Fireworks were brilliant and attracted lots of oooohhhs and aaaahhhhs. Thanks Port Lincoln that's a wrap for the Festival but we will be posting photos from todays events tomorrow so don't forget to stay connected.

When it comes to Eyre Peninsula's amazing seafood and sensational SAMM Lamb Kris Bunder from Del Giorno's Cafe Restaurant is a Master Chef. Last night he served up the most delicious menu for 170 Guests at the Best of Eyre Dinner in the Bendigo Bank Marquee decorated by the talented crew from EP Function Hire and Emceed by the fabulous Emma Pedler. Wow what a night.

Fish will fly when Port Lincoln hosts its Tunarama Festival this weekend, with the town's population expect to more than double as around 20,000 visitors head to the Eyre Peninsula for the iconic event.

Please note two important changes to the Tunarama Programme:

Firstly we are very excited to invite the whole community to be a part of Tunarama’s biggest celebration and witness the crowning of the ‘2019 Tunarama Ambassador’ with the Ambassador Quest Awards presented live on the main stage in Eyre Square from 5-7pm FRIDAY Night! This will be followed on by the Abba Gold Show starting from 9pm

Secondly, the Fireworks will be held on SUNDAY night at sundown, approx 9:30pm, followed by live music on the mainstage till 11:30pm when the festival will officially close.

Our brilliant and loveable Exec chef Josh Harris is heading up the kitchen and has created an amazing menu focussing on the best seafood and other produce from the area and has a wonderful team with him on the floor and in the kitchen. Big thanks to Monica and Jacinta (the wonder twins) for lending a helping hand too. We hope that you love our latest offering and we will be doing special dinners in the near future that I will share with you. An exciting new dining destination is about to open its doors! Congratulations to the team at Peter Teakle Wines.

“Everything on the restaurant’s menu has been grown, caught, farmed and harvested on the Eyre Peninsula, some of it from the on-site orchard, gardens and greenhouses.

The name of the restaurant has also been carefully chosen to promote the stories behind the local produce.

“The line celebrates the story line, the vineyard, oyster and farming lines of produce, the history line, the lines in sailing and of course, the fishing line,” he said.

While ‘label’ celebrates Mr Teakle’s and his family’s global wine label printing business.”

Saturday's Tuna Toss final is shaping up to be a Father and Son battle as Mick Proud and Levi Proud have gone through to the final. Both Mens and Women's event will be hotly contested.
