Northern lights tour - Helsinki
After our 2 night stay in Rovaniemi we travelled by train to Helsinki for the last night of our tour before our flight home.
We all had an amazing time and I would highly recommend the Hurtigruten follow the Northern lights tour.

Northern Lights tour - Rovaniemi and Bearhill Huskies
After leaving the Glass igloos we visited the Huskies where we had a Husky cart ride(not enough snow for the sled) and got to meet some of the dogs, then went on to our stay 2 night stay in Rovaniemi

Northern lights tour - Santa’s village and Arctic Snow hotel and Glass igloo stay
We all had a great day at Santa’s village and then enjoyed our overnight stay in a glass igloo. Unfortunately the lights didn’t appear due to overcast conditions.

Northern Lights - Saariselkä
A great day today 2 night stopover with a day at leisure. Our amazing guide Tim took us on 2 walks and then we visited the Reindeer farm for our sleigh ride.

Northern lights - Kirkenes to Saariselka
Today we disembarked in Kirkenes and traveled by coach into Finland to the ski resort of Saariselka for our 2 night stay. We only had a couple of hours of light but enjoyed the scenery and wonderful lights

Northern lights - Honningsvåg
Unfortunately due to weather conditions our tour to the North Cape had to be cancelled so we did a city walk instead. First day of experiencing no sunrise or sunset.

Northern Light - Tromso
Today we visited the Arctic capital, Tromso. We took a cable car ride to the top of Mount Stirsteinen however we had a white out and couldn’t see the city views. Visited the Arctic Cathedral and the Full Steam maritime museum. Back on the ship after dinner we had a lovely display of Northern Lights.

Northern Lights - Across the Arctic Circle. Bodo and Lofoten
After crossing the Arctic circle we had a traditional ship board ceremony and then a coastal walk in Bodø and a Viking dinner in Lofoten.

Northern Lights
After leaving Trondheim we cruised further up the Norwegian coast passing the Historic lighthouse - Kjeungskær in the middle of the Fjords. Our first viewing of the Northern Lights at midnight and then we crossed the Arctic circle just before 8am.

Northern lights tour - Trondheim
Today we had a guided walking tour of Trondheim, it was very icy under foot so our shoe spikes got a work out. We visited
the historic sites including Stiftsgården (royal residence), market square, Nidaros Cathedral, Gamle Bybro bridge and colourful historic warehouse buildings

Northern lights - Ålesund
Today we went on the Alnes Lighthouse tour. It was raining and snowing off and on but we enjoyed the tour travelling thru various islands. We visited a 12th century marble church on Giske Island, Alnes Lighthouse built in 1876 (Godóy Island) and Mount Aksla, for the views of the archipelago and fjord.

Northern Lights - Bergen
A great way to see Bergen city sites was a walking tour around the city with a local guide then we took a ride on the Funicular Railway to the top of Mt Flóyen and were able to see over the whole of Bergen. We are so lucky to visit at this time of the year as all the Christmas markets are opening and Bergen citizens including the children have built a Gingerbread town which we were able to visit- It was just amazing to see. Then we went onto the Bergen Christmas markets, lunch and shopping, before boarding Hurtigruten Richard With for our cruise north.
Our boarding was amazing as it began to snow - everyone was so excited

Northern lights tour -Flåm to Bergen
The second part of our Norway in a Nutshell Tour - We cruised from Flam to Gudvangen by ferry on the Aurlandsfjord. The Fjord was starting to ice over in areas it was freezing on the deck but the scenery was spectacular. From the ferry we travelled by Bus to Voss where we had lunch and then by train to Bergen. After a quick check in we had a city orientation walk before the sunset around 4pm.
