Today, we are faced with news that profoundly affects our family business and the services provided to visitors traveling the Great Ocean Road. The State Government is set to compulsorily acquire our farmland and a portion of our heliport situated opposite the Twelve Apostles. This isn't just a misuse of taxpayer money; it poses a direct threat to our livelihood and the future of our tours.

Our family has farmed this land since the 1970s, and the potential loss of a segment where we run our sheep and operate helicopter tours is heart-wrenching, leaving us with limited space to safely conduct our scenic tours.

Before the pandemic, we annually flew around 120,000 people, showcasing the awe-inspiring beauty of the Twelve Apostles coastline. However, the Government's decision not only endangers our current operations but also hampers the potential we envisioned for future development. If our land is acquired, our capacity to fly visitors will significantly decline.

The government's acquisition forms part of a $108 million tourism development. Despite presenting our proposed tourism development plans, featuring a restaurant, cafe, visitor centre and viewing terrace to enrich your experience at this iconic location, our offers were rejected by the State Government without reason. We are ready to invest ourselves, in World Class facilities and spare taxpayers the burden.
