If you’re looking here then you probably already know what an incredible destination the Huon Valley region is. A lush, rural setting – just half an hour from central Hobart – you’ll find awarded wineries and cider houses, ambitious hikes and gentle river cruises, intimate beaches and a thriving café culture. In the middle of all this is Huon Valley House, a place where you can unwind in comfort.

We aim high; it’s a spacious, stylish space, with comfortable beds and gorgeous views from every window. There’s free high-speed WIFI, Netflix and central heating and cooling. And best of all, it’s private but central to everything the Valley has to offer, and an easy drive to Hobart and other Southern Tasmania destinations. The open-plan living includes two dining and seating areas, so larger groups can comfortably spread out. Each of the four bedrooms has its own nook in the house, and the master includes an ensuite and dressing room along with its own deck. The main bathroom includes a separate bath, and the screenless showers feature rain shower heads. Internal sound-proofing and separate spaces help keep the peace. High quality, professionally cleaned linen and ethical bathroom products are all included. We subscribe to Tasmania’s flagship arts and lifestyle magazines: ‘40 Degrees South,’ ‘Island Magazine’ and ‘Tasmanian Life,’ with plenty of back-issues to browse. There are board games, books and puzzles, toys for the kids, a piano. There’s also a high chair, port-a-cot and nursing pillow, if you’re travelling with an infant. Outside you’ll find an acre of lawns and garden, birds and wildlife, plenty of parking space, secure fencing and large decks with views in all directions. It’s the perfect luxurious base to explore the Huon Valley, Hobart and the south-west region.

Catherine Morris - Catherine now has several paintings available at Huon Art.

Catherine's paintings are of local scenes from across the valley and being in a smaller size are now available for only $100 a month with the 12 month interest free loan, COLLECT.

'Huon River near Franklin' is oil on canvas and measures 51cm high x 75cm wide.

This gorgeous ketch is the Kerrawyn. She was built in Tassie and restored by Dave and Anastasia (if you watched Gourmet Farmer - Dave and his two woolly dogs built our beautiful kitchen out of myrtle) and you can go sailing on her most days out of Franklin. Check out for more lovely pics and how to book. They’re also doing peaceful lunchtime sails and cruising out of Cygnet on market days.
