Australia is renowned for its stunning landscapes and outdoor lifestyle, inviting us to enjoy beach relaxation, rainforest adventures, and outdoor sports with the family. However, with high skin cancer rates due to sun exposure, protecting our skin is crucial, which is why we need to remember to:

**SLIP! SLOP! SLAP!**
To safeguard yourself from sunburn and skin damage, use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Apply generously and reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Wear sun-safe clothing, like loose-fitting, densely woven garments with an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating. Lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen are ideal for summer. Don’t forget a broad-brimmed hat to protect your face, neck, and shoulders as you enjoy the sunshine.

**Our Children’s Safety**
As adults, we must take the necessary steps to protect our children from the harmful effects of the sun. This includes applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an appropriate SPF to their skin, ensuring they wear protective clothing, and providing access to shaded areas during peak sunlight hours. Additionally, it's essential to encourage them to wear hats and sunglasses to shield their faces and eyes. By safeguarding our children when they are still young, we are safeguarding their future and teaching them how to maintain good skin care as they age.

We have been providing PDT treatment to our patients for over 12 months now with very high patient satisfaction. PDT treatment will provide the best cosmetic outcome for your skin cancer treatment to your whole face, whole scalp, and extremities.

We are very delighted to announce that Dr Michael Petinga will be joining our team here at St. Marys Skin Cancer Clinic and Medical Centre. Dr Petinga will be working Thursdays and Fridays starting from the 22nd of February. To secure an appointment call us on 02 9623 7777.
