Talking Wood is a backyard custom picture framing service which is dedicated to up-cycling reclaimed wooden picture frames
But we don't only up-cycle. Talking Wood also makes brand new frames depending on what the client desires. We provide a range of frame moulding options, as well as conservation grade glass, and conservation grade mat boards. The glass we automatically provide with ready-made
frames is regular 2mm clear float, this is also the glass included in the quote and product pricing, unless requested otherwise. The mat boards we use are archival quality, Eco friendly and made from recycled materials.
~ Why Emily became a Framer ~
"I've always been an artist, mostly in the realm of drawing, collage and inkwork, and then later got into painting and printmaking. I took a long break from making art, until recently I decided I would love some of my works framed. My parents framed some of my earlier etching works, and they looked so good! So I decided to teach myself how to do that. I had done some woodwork earlier on in my life, and also as a hobby for aquariums and home decor, whittling away at old tree roots and driftwood. Also there's a few builders and woodworking crafty men in my family, so it wasn't so hard to get into. This became something which I really enjoyed on it’s own, and quickly grew from a hobby into a business. Hence after years of producing my own art I decided to start framing my own works. My partner is also a photographer who takes stunning landscapes, nature, portraiture and conceptual photographs, and who's pieces I'm proudly framing for his clients, market stalls and exhibitions. All this got me into what I do now, and I love it. The passion for artistic fulfillment and a job well done is what drives me daily, and I hope that is what you experience from my work. I hope you enjoy my creations!"
