These houses, situated on the north side of the street near the junction with Northam Road, were probably built in the 1860s, although Cable Street itself dates back to the 1850s.They were demolished in the 1950s. Cable Street formerly ran in a straight line from Northam Road to Peel Street. It was altered during the 1950s when the houses were demolished. It now winds its way between Wilson Street and Kent Street.

Local experts help required. I couldn't find anywhere in Rosoman Road on Google that looked like this, with the downwards hill in the background. Then i noticed that the Post Office is Firgrove Road in the old picture., so it must be this junction? The modern picture has a Post Box there - but still can't see the hill!
