We're settling in well at our temporary home at 29 Esplanade, Strahan, with lots of locals and visitors calling in to say hi and see what's happening around the region - including Murph!

We've had some warm weather this week - with more to come. ☀

Like lots of things about the West Coast, our weather can take you by surprise... especially the heat

Remember to keep hydrated and wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen if outside.

We have stunning lakes and beaches to cool off in - always make sure you're being safe around the water (conditions can change quickly) and never swim alone.

For local tips on the best spots, chat to the team at the West Coast Visitor Information Centre or visit www.westcoasttas.com

📢Montezuma Falls Update:

Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service have advised that Montezuma Falls will remain closed due to a major landslip.

This is unfortunate news, as repair works on the initial September storm damage had been completed and Parks crews were conducting final inspections yesterday (18 December) when the landslip was discovered.

As a result of this landslip, the walking track will be closed until the necessary repairs can be carried out to make the area safe again.

Please follow the closure notification and do no attempt to access the track as it is unsafe.

For further information please contact the West Coast Field centre on 6409 1020 or via email [email protected]

A little bit of background...

Since opening on 22 November 1992, the West Coast Visitor Information Centre has welcomed more than 2 million visitors.

Our services include tour and accommodation bookings - locally on the West Coast and across Tasmania - and provision of information.

The West Coast Reflection Exhibition, located within the Centre, details the Macquarie Harbour region from pre-history to the battle to save the Franklin River. The exhibition features interpretation from award-winning author Richard Flanagan.

The Centre was designed by architects Forward Viney Woolan and Morris-Nunn & Associates.
