Her first after-launch voyage is to Southampton, UK, for a series of short getaways. She then departs on a 52-night “Global Odyssey” to arrive in Beijing for her inaugural China season commencing 24 June 2016. On 30 November 2016, she will start a 15-night Singapore to Sydney voyage via Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart.

Sydney will be her home port for her maiden Australian season. Ovation of the Seas will return for a second Australian season in the summer of 2017/18.

FRASER ISLAND NOW CRUISE STOP-OVER

April 3rd 2016 marked the start of P&O cruises that include Queensland’s pristine Fraser Island as a stop-over for mid-sized cruise ships. The Pacific Aria navigated its way through the Great Sandy Strait and dropped anchor off Kingfisher Bay on the west side of the island. The ships can only reach the island during high tide and passengers are transferred to Kingfisher Bay Resort to spend a day exploring the island.

The Pacific Eden is the second P&O vessel that will be including Fraser Island as a stop-over on its cruises. The company has been interested in Fraser Island for some time, but had to wait until two the smaller ships joined its fleet before it could include the island in its itineraries.
The next cruise to Fraser Island is planned for December, and five sailings are scheduled for 2017.

QANTAS BOOKINGS GO MOBILE

Qantas now offers passengers the facility to book both domestic and international flights via its mobile website. This brings the Flying Kangaroo in line with Jetstar and Virgin Australia. The new mobile booking function is available to travellers departing Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK and USA and includes codeshare flights.

“The Qantas Mobile site now makes it easier for our customers to book their flights while on the move, away from their home or office” a Qantas spokesperson said.

The site includes Qantas Club lounge locations, worldwide contact numbers as well as flight timetables, QantasLink and Jetstar.

MOBILE BOARDING PASSES ON THE WAY

Etihad is in the process of introducing mobile boarding passes for passengers travelling on selected routes with the aim of "streamlining the departure and boarding experience". The service is already operating in 13 major international airports and will roll out to more airports as the new electronic readers are installed across its global network.

The advantages of mobile boarding passes are claimed to be an expanded range of check-in options, the ability to store multi-sector boarding passes on a single mobile, less paper consumption and a lower risk of boarding pass loss. An Etihad spokesman said "“The elimination of paper boarding passes will be more convenient for our guests and reduce our environmental footprint, which is good for the guest, the business and for the environment.”

It's safe to assume that as one airline introduces the new technology, the others will soon follow.
