The Student Horizons team had an early Christmas gathering last week.

Congregating on the Sunshine Coast the team participated in professional development before downing tools and experiencing the breathtaking beauty and tranquility of the Noosa Everglades.

The Noosa Everglades, one of only two everglades systems on Earth, is a world of water, wilderness and wonder in the upper reaches of the Noosa River. Known as the River of Mirrors because of the amazing reflections in the water, the Noosa Everglades is a 60km stretch of pristine waters, magnificent flora and fauna and narrow waterways.

Harrow International School Shanghai UK and USA University Tour - Teacher Feedback:

“The tour was meticulously organised not for us, but with us, and Student Horizons could not have been more responsive to our needs and requests.

Our tour leader, Izzy, was so incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the process, being on top of all the details but also flexible enough to change things, sometimes quickly, when needed.

I was very impressed by the breadth of the company’s connections at each stop along the way; it meant we could give the students a genuinely enriching experience”.

This week Jamie Wansey (Student Horizons MD) has been in Singapore solidifying historical partnerships and building new relationships at the travel conference.

He has also been visiting a number of schools looking to travel to Australia and New Zealand and beyond on sports trips and educational trips.

Great to catch up with our friends at Singapore Football Club.

Singapore is a beautiful country with so much diversity and a leader on sustainability.

Many of our school groups from down under will choose to spend a few days here on their way to or from Europe.

So much to do. Incredibly friendly people. Amazing food. Stunning architecture. Very safe.

We LOVE Singapore.

It is awesome to finally be back in our own stand alone office this week. We have moved our HQ to a fantastic new location in Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

We are still only a few hundred metres from one of the best beaches in Australia and we have our outdoor spaces which are great for “brain breaks” and team meetings.

Good times ahead for creating and delivering “experiences for life”.

Feel free to drop in and say hello if you are passing through! Izzy makes a great coffee!

Last week Jamie Wansey (Student Horizons Managing Director) was in Lisbon, Portugal for the World Youth and Student Travel Conference.

Student Horizons is proud to have been a member of the WYSE Travel Federation for several years.

The WYSE Travel Confederation has over 600 member organisations, representing 100 million youth and students’ travellers annually.

This was a great opportunity for Student Horizons to cement existing partnerships and build new relationships with like minded organisations from across the globe, with a view to delivering greater value to our school groups that partner with us.

A brilliant event to connect with peers from around the world, listening to inspirational keynote speeches, engaging in workshops, exploring new partnerships in business meetings and building on friendships in social events.

Our team leader of Operations (Izzy) was connecting with the future workforce on the Sunshine Coast yesterday at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Student Horizons is delighted to be involved with the Universities ‘iengage Project Connect’program, designed to help aid career exploration through working on real world industry problems.

Izzy presented a real world problem we are currently exploring and we commend the students for their effort in the way they tackled the challenge and came up with solutions and strategies.

All Hallows' School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1861 and was the first secondary school for girls in Queensland.

The team at SH are delighted to be partnered with All Hallows’ School on their multi sports tour to New Zealand in June next year.

We are proud to be an Australian and New Zealand owned and operated organisation. With our head office in Queesnland we are grateful for long-standing partnerships with many Queensland schools.

St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace have also recently booked again their under 15’s rugby tour to New Zealand for June 2025. This will be the 7th time we have partnered with Terrace on this sports tour and we are grateful for the opportunity to deliver another rugby experience for life for a new rugby cohort.

Our Managing Director has just returned from a week in Shanghai visiting some of our International School clients.

Harrow International School Shanghai depart on their UK and USA University tour in a few days time and Jamie had the privilege of catching up with the Principal and Deputy Head and dropping off their tour manuals in person.

Jamie makes the following observations of Shanghai on his trip:

“Shanghai sure is an impressive mega city to visit. Awe inspiring modern infastructure combined with remnants of a colonial past. Very easy to get around on the metro or local Uber service (Didi) and always feeling safe when walking or running around the city. Delicious food and not expensive. So much to see and do from a cultural perspective with world class museums. If you enjoy shopping you can shop till you drop. Early morning, groups of people practcising Tai Chi in parks and men flying kites on the Bund. An incredibly clean city.

In my experience, very welcoming, friendly and accomodating locals in respect to foreigners.

If you haven’t visited Shanghai, I highly reccomend.

In the China Daily newspaper on Friday Yin Yong (Beijing Mayor) comments on the importance of tourism to Beijing and China as a whole and I couldn’t agree more with his sentiments”

“Tourism is an important channel for promoting deep exchanges and mutual understanding between different countries and cultures”.
