Introducing New SH Team Member.

Mason, originally from the UK and raised on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia has developed a profound passion for travel that has shaped much of his life. After attending Siena Catholic College in Sippy Downs, he pursued football with dedication, both as a player and coach, representing the Sunshine Coast in state competitions and volunteering extensively with his local club.

From a young age, Mason’s enthusiasm for travel was evident. Early family trips to the UK and a cultural immersion experience in Fiji in 2017 ignited his wanderlust. He has since undertaken solo road trips, exploring Tasmania in 2021 and the outback of Queensland in 2022, and aspires to complete a full loop of Australia in his own campervan. His recent three-month backpacking journey across Europe featured memorable experiences, including attending a performance at the Moulin Rouge in Paris and watching Inter Milan play Benfica in the Champions League Quarter Finals at San Siro.

Mason’s professional background includes roles in both tertiary education and school travel. His career in travel began with a position at a UK-based school travel company following his European adventures. His current role at Student Horizons has been particularly fulfilling, as it allows him to blend his deep passion for travel with his commitment to education.

Great to have you on the Team Mason.

Introducing New Student Horizons Team Member:

Sarina Anderson - Student Horizons Senior Operations Officer and Team Leader of Tour Safety and Risk.

Sarina was born in the UK and had the privilege of going to France and Italy on school trips. She believes that this kickstarted her passion for travel and adventure.

Having emigrated to New Zealand in 2012 with her family, she became wholeheartedly immersed in the outdoors and has spent the last 8+ years working for a glacier guiding company on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

Her extensive experience in a leadership guiding role on the glaciers provided her with an opportunity to work in Antarctica, where she spent a summer season working as a Field Support Officer at the Kiwi Base on Ross Island. Now that's cool!

Sarina has travelled to the likes of Cuba, Mexico and Spain to name a few, with her recent adventures bringing her to the Sunshine Coast in Australia. Outside of work, Sarina loves to go camping, hiking or anything that involves some form of adventure!

Delighted to have you on board at Student Horizons Sarina.

“Student Horizon's delivered, yet again, a wonderful trip for our students. This was the first time that I have utilised a Logistics Director on a International trip and I would highly recommend. Having a LD meant that we could focus as a staff team first and foremost on the pastoral needs of our students”

“Very organised and well thought out trip. It was super helpful having a logistics manager on the ground with us which allowed staff to focus on pastoral care of our students.”

“Our Logistics Director, Izzy, made this well-organised [Student Horizons] tour a pleasure to participate in. Her knowledge of Europe [and the French language] and high levels of organisation allowed the school tour staff to focus on student relationships without worrying about the logistical stresses of overseas tour travel. What was equally wonderful was that Izzy provided her expertise with a cheerful demeanour and a generous and approachable nature - both the students and staff stated the trip wouldn't have been the success that it was without her [and Student Horizons] support and service. Bravo!”

“Such an incredible experience! We could not have asked for a better Logistics Director or attention to detail or food! Every aspect was carefully thought through and if changes needed to be made then these were carefully thought through, and aspects were altered. I am definitely putting my hand up to go again!”

"We just wanted to say a great big thank you to you all for all the endless hours of mahi that you all put in to making our Contemporary Art Trip so awesome. It was so streamlined, meticulously organised, considered and inspiring for all our students (and for us teachers!).

Every step of the way we felt you with us, in the places you suggested we go, the amazing tour manuals, the routes we took, the smooth process of travelling between destinations, the hotel communication, the tickets, and of course all the texts and phone calls you fielded along the way helping us sort permits and organising doctors for students

The trip was truly incredible, and we all got so much out of it. The students are still buzzing, as are we. We very obviously could not possibly do this without you guys. Your knowledge of the countries we visit, your service, and most importantly your Art-knowledge is second to none, and we are so very grateful."

A couple of weeks ago Jamie Wansey of Student Horizons presented a UK and Europe multi sports tour opportunity to Diocesan School For Girls (Dio) parents and students in their Great Hall.

Hosting an information evening at your school to promote an overseas school trip offers numerous benefits for everyone involved. Here’s why it’s so valuable for parents and students, and how we at Student Horizons, your specialist educational travel provider, play a key role in making it a success:

For Parents:

- Informed Decision Making: Parents receive comprehensive information about the trip, helping them make informed decisions about their child’s participation.
- Trust and Transparency: Meeting the trip organisers and teachers in person can build trust and ensure transparency about the trip’s organisation and safety protocols.
- Financial Planning: Parents can understand the costs involved and payment plans and inquire about any available financial assistance or fundraising opportunities.
- Safety Reassurance: Parents learn about the safety measures in place, including supervision, emergency procedures, and insurance coverage, providing peace of mind.
- Engagement and Involvement: Being informed allows parents to support their children better in preparation for the trip, from packing to understanding the trip’s objectives.

For Students:

- Building Excitement: An information evening can generate excitement and anticipation among students by highlighting the fun and educational aspects of the trip.
- Preparation: Students can learn what to expect, what to pack, and how to prepare, reducing anxiety and increasing readiness.
- Understanding Objectives: Students can grasp the educational goals of the trip, understanding its relevance and benefits to their academic and personal growth.
- Social Bonding: Students can meet their fellow travelers and start building relationships, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork before the trip.
- Active Participation: Involving students in the information evening encourages them to take an active role in planning and preparing for the trip, promoting responsibility and independence.

By partnering with Student Horizons, your information evening becomes a well-rounded event that covers all necessary aspects of the trip, ensuring that all stakeholders feel informed, reassured, and excited about the upcoming overseas school tour.

Looking forward to now working alongside the Dio teachers in charge of the trip who have booked their multi sports tour with Student Horizons.

52 students will embark on a sporting and cultural "experience for life" next April.

St Rita’s College Year 6 cohort are currently on their Canberra and Thredbo tour with SH Logistics Director - Jamie Wansey.

Today was an absolute beauty. Thredbo put it on.

Some girls had never seen snow before.

One girl shared with her teacher that she would remember this day forever!

Every single student had the courage to take the Kosci chair lift to the top.

On the way back to Canberra they stopped in Cooma where the students learnt all about the Snowy Hydro. Described as one of the civil engineering wonders of the modern world, the Snowy Scheme consists of eight power stations, 16 major dams, 80 kilometres of aqueducts and 145 kilometres of interconnected tunnels. Wow!!!

Right now students are writing in their reflective journals before heading to dinner which is ‘make your own burgers’ and chips tonight.

How good!

What a brillliant day!
