BREAKING NEWS! Australian borders are reopening for tourism after almost two years of travel restrictions. Today, the Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that starting on February 21, fully vaccinated travellers will be able to enter Australia.

However, the fight continues, and there are so many cultural and legal issues that need to be addressed and fixed for all women to experience equal rights, equal respect, equal pay and equal opportunities all around the world. May this dream become a reality. 💜

Today, the Sydney Mardi Gras Festival comes to an end. The socially distanced parade yesterday was different, but still fantastic! At VALIANT we love this festivity, for it reminds us that being yourself out loud and unapologetically should be a right for everyone everywhere around the world. As every year, it was moving to see it gather so many people that support the fight against prejudice and inequality. Mardi Gras is a celebration of all that has been accomplished, but also a tribute for all those who didn’t have that freedom throughout the years and those who still have to keep their gender and sexual identity in the shadows. In the world, there are still 72 countries in which homosexuality is illegal and so many more in which q***r individuals are still stigmatised and ostracised. We deeply hope this kind of events help this beautiful community to be more visible and louder around the world in order to keep on paving the way toward global equality.

We saw so many migration processes being granted, families reaching their dream of migrating permanently, and couples that won’t have to worry about being apart anymore… In de midst of chaos, we were able to give so many good news, and this has made our 2020 a good year after all.

If you find yourself stranded in Australia during the pandemic and your visa is about to expire, the visa subclass 408 (COVID-19 Pandemic Event) might be an option for you. This visa allows eligible applicants to remain legally in Australia while they make arrangements to depart. It also provides temporary work rights to certain applicants working in critical sectors.

You may be eligible if:
• You are unable to leave Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions
• Have a current visa that expires in 28 days or less or your last substantive temporary visa expired less than 28 days ago
• Either have evidence from your employer that you have ongoing work in a critical sector and that an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident cannot fill the position, or demonstrate you can’t meet the requirements of any other visa
• You are able to support your dependants and yourself during the rest of your stay.
• You have not had visa refusals or cancellations since you last entered Australia.
