Car Boot Sleep Out 2024
Recapping our incredible Car Boot Sleep Out in May! 🚗 A special shoutout to all of the incredible participants and the growing number of youth that attended our recent Sleep Out event, what a testament to the amazing community we have here in the Inner West! 🙌
We slept in our cars on the rooftop of Marrickville Metro, in solidarity of those sleeping rough every single night - a number that has quintupled in the last year alone. This eye-opening statistic is a harsh reminder of the reality for so many people, and Newtown Centre need your help to continue to support the growing demand for support services!
Thanks to our incredible fundraisers and those who have donated, so far we've raised $140,000 for homelessness! 🌟 Your support means everything. As we approach the end of the financial year, remember that your tax-deductible donation helps us offer vital lifelines to those in need 💖 Don’t miss your chance to make a difference - donate before June 30th at bit.ly/CBSO24Donate

Did you know Sydney CBD and the Inner West have the highest density of boarding houses in Australia? There are hundreds of them, all privately owned and less than half are registered. Our CEO Elaine spoke with the ABC to discuss the alarming rise in boarding house closures and its impact on residents like NNC client Elena and the 30 occupants of the Cosy Hotel we recently supported to find new accommodation. We need more affordable housing to ensure the community’s most vulnerable have a safe place to call home and a community to belong to.
